The old bag had her injection with no problems and I have a date for mine . Just wish people would not reject the chance.

Covid injection
Sadly, many people have had problems, so it really should remain an individual choice. Depending on where you are, you can look at VAERS or MRHA adverse reactions, and they're really stacking up. There was an article in the BMJ recently that stated informed consent is not being obtained, as even most doctors aren't aware of the risk of more severe infection on contact with the virus in the community after vaccination. How can we weigh up the pros and cons if we're not being given the full facts- that's my main concern. I'm very glad it went well for you.
Agree with you it's a personal choice but you need to look at things in perspective. The percentage of people reporting adverse reactions is very low at approx 0.3% (MHRA yellow card report for 18th Feb) and those side effects are generally mild and no worse than people suffer from the flu jab. I think the drop in infection and death rate talks for itself.
Yes, perspective is important. From the CDC:
"Over 52 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the United States from December 14, 2020, through February 14, 2021. During this time, VAERS received 934 reports of death* (0.0018%) among people who received a COVID-19 vaccine."
That's extremely low, and it's possible some of those deaths were shortly after vaccination and before the immune response was strong.
It's fine to have a healthy fear of any side effects or allergic reactions to the vaccine. Anyone with known allergies or other valid reasons really should wait or consult a doctor. But compare the above number with actually getting the coronavirus (0.5% fatality rate) or dealing with 'long covid' where the symptoms persist for many months.
We can't stay indoors forever. I'm young and in good shape, my chance of dying is even lower. But I abide by masking/social distancing for all the old geezers and immunocompromised folks (and for myself too of course).
Now, doing my part means getting the vaccine so we can all get back to our normal lives and pick up where we left off on our consumerism and rapid consumption of the Earth's limited resources.
You can indeed look at MHRA information for the UK gov.uk/government/publicati.... This publicly available information makes clear that any anecdotal reports of deaths or serious illness in the period after vaccination are unfortunately the random levels that would be expected without vaccination. Unfortunately that is inevitable, especially as the people being vaccinated in the UK are those that are most vulnerable to all diseases or death from any cause. Unfortunately also there are a small percentage of people who don't produce an immune response after vaccination and go on to get COVID. The evidence suggests that the vast majority of these vaccinated people will get a milder version than that might have had without the vaccine. And unfortunately a percentage of people will get serious COVID before the immune response kicks in. Unless you are in the very small percentage of people whose immunity is reduced due to other illness (not PSP or CBD) or you are at risk of specific allergic reaction then I'd encourage you and your loved ones to get vaccinated.By way of full disclosure I work in health research in a government organisation.
Always smile when I see you refer to the "Old Bag", it speaks volumes to me of the love and affection you have for each other. 😊
It is a really perjorative term in the UK. I would be beaten around the head with a blunt instrument if I tried using it! Richard
