Last night was the Celebration of Life for my husband George, who passed away in January with CBD. All of my siblings (3 sisters and a brother) had flown in from Pennsylvania and Ohio to offer their help and support. We succeeded in giving George the send off he deserved. Even amid the panic this darn coronavirus is causing, we still had a great crowd.
A good time was had by all. Lots of memories, fellowship, food and fun. Our little bluegrass band was there jamming for their old friend, whom they loved and now miss. I even joined them for a few songs in between my mingling with our guests. I know George was there in spirit—but he would have loved to have been there in the thick of things playing and singing with his friends.
So my takeaway from all of this is realizing how blessed I have been. I had the love of that good man for the 34 years we were married. The love of family who did not hesitate to travel 1000 miles to stand by my side. And the love of all of our friends who made sure they were there to honor their friend George. That’s it, folks...in a nutshell. It’s all about the love.
