Christmas Baking a success!

I thoroughly enjoyed making cookies with my Momma this year! We made Russian Tea Cakes, and she was very successful in making small balls for baking!!! She enjoyed shaking them in powdered sugar too!! All smiles!!

Doesn't baking take you back, as a child Mum & I always baked together on a Saturday afternoon, then the last few years she has passed on her Christmas recipes to me - her homemade stuffing, trifle, how to marzipan and royal ice the cake. Last year during the winter when the weather was bad I would set up a work station in her living room, so she could watch me from her comfy recliner and check I was doing things right and we revisited a lot of childhood recipes. It was a really special time.

This year she can no longer eat cake but she still supervised the decorating of the Christmas cake, though I was allowed to go solo on the trifle & stuffing (was a bit too heavy handed with the herbs - oopps). I know this is very likely our last Christmas and I wouldn't want Mum to still be suffering next Christmas, but I will miss baking with her so much.

You are so doing the right thing making memories.
