I am happy to report this bit of success. My husband saw his new Neurologist last week. He very compassionately explained facts about PSP, prescribed a walker, told my husband that we can only try to keep him safe from falls and deal with other things as they come up. He also told him that it would be better to stop working. On his written orders, he wrote, NO DRIVING.
My husband tried to convince the Dr. that he could still safely drive, that's when the Dr. put it in writing. Okay, so, he still wanted to work. That means I have to take him 8 miles away at 10:pm, then pick him up at when he gets off at 7 am. That might seem like a piece of cake to some but for me, very difficult, physically and emotionally. Well, the first morning I went to get him, he told me on the way home that he gave notice on his job that he would be leaving for medical reasons.
It was such a battle trying to convince him to stop working and stop driving. Now I can look forward to him driving me crazy around the house and I suppose I should appreciate it too.

That's the best news I have had for ages! The doctor actually sounds human! It is amazing to have someone who is clearly understanding and on your side.
As everyone has said get your affairs in order and go and enjoy the time you have both left together.
Well done! So glad you can tick that worry off your list!
Enjoy your time with hubby: he's still mobile, can still enjoy food, and communicate. Those are huge, and in time you may lose them. Most of all, you still have him!!
As our friend Eastern Cedar has said: "What I wouldn't give to be able to say that.."
For my husband giving up driving was very painful, but after a near accident because he couldn’t turn his head around and the changes in his vision convinced him that it was necessary.
