coconut oil Suplement
Hello ninalulu
Welcome to the forum.
There isn't any evidence that coconut oil is particularly helpful with PSP or CBD. Hopefully someone here has tried it and can tell you about their experience.
The simple rule with all vegetable oils is to find one that is 'cold pressed'. That is that the oil is extracted in a mechanical crushing mill and not by heat and chemicals.
Do you suffer from PSP or CBD, or care for someone who does?
Do introduce yourself. You will be made very welcome by the folk here.
Best to you
Kevin
We have tried the coconut oil never saw any changes xxxxx also welcome to the site xxxx Yvonne xxxxx

FWIW my wife is six years into this illness an she is still making good memories... The illness is gutting... but it is not the end.

i have psp
Sorry to hear that Ninalulu. Depending on which country you live in, you may be able to buy coconut oil at your local health food store, but as Tippy says below, there is no research that says it is effective. Still, many people are willing to try something that MAY some day, be proven effective through research.
I wish you the best of luck as you make your way through rhis challenging disease.

they said cannabis oil ( GOD help me i m going to try to, I KNOW GOD forgive me . LORD help me
i try everything they told me , I don't have to much money . The DR i went i don't like . today is the primary DR. and I m going to tell him . the neurologist don't make another appointment to see me . i only see the nurse practitioner. i never saw him again, no contact with me whatsoever, he just told me that i have PSP after the MRI . that is umbolivable. sorry my english. thanks ninalulu
That's very sad Ninalulu (although my husband and I had much the same experience May I ask what country you are in? I'm thinking that in some countries with small populations, PSP and CBD are so unknown that there just isn't a "program approach" to the disease: one is told the dx then returned to the family doctor (who understandably knows nothing of the disease) for symptom management!
So far, the UK seems to be the clear leader in managing patients with these diseases....
Hi Ninalulu
As far as I can find there is absolutely no evidence that coconut oil is beneficial in PSP
But my husband’s family have been very keen he take this and he started on it soon after diagnosis. He feels very positive taking it and asks for it daily
He is 5 years post diagnosis and neurologists keep telling us he has a very slow progression! No idea if the coconut oil has done anything or not but the psychological benefits are positive

some people said is very good , i try medication but nothing know im going to try coconut oil ,i believe in natural remedies , that is me, i m taking omega 3 co q10and 1 aspirin

hi: Tippy how you take the coconut oil. I m going to try it . thanks
Hi Ninalulu
As previously this is not evidence based.
My husband has a teaspoon of coconut oil every morning in black tea ( with thickener) Hr calls or his oily tea!! In addition I use coconut oil for all cooking for him instead of butter or oil we aim for a tablespoon per day which as I recall was the recommendation.
Good luck with it
Love Tippy
Hi Ninalulu
This one ticks all of the boxes for mechanical extraction etc.

There will be others... Just look for cold pressed and no additives for any brand.
You might consider dropping the CQ10. There was a pilot study that seemed to show that it was helpful with PSP. A larger study was then done and the results were that it did not help.
There is a long list of stuff like CQ10, Ethylene Blue etc Sadly each time large controlled study's are done they have been found to ineffective.
I know of no coconut oil studies... So good luck.
Best to you
Kevin
PS We tried CQ10 in large doses for two years. We saw no difference when on it and not on it.
i m going to try to find it. thanks
