Hi Peter and Maddy, I have never heard of coconut oil for balance... anything is worth a try.

Peter if you click on the photo next to the comment it will take you to a map of where that person lives. Terry, my husband suffers with PSP he was diagnosed 4years ago,he doesnt fall but his balance is really bad.We reckon he has the slow progression. We make the most of everything we are able to do,and deal with it as it comes. Take care.

Hi Peter and Maddy. Like LindanTerry above, I have never heard of coconut oil as a help for balance but I shall certainly look into it to see if it might help. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

My hubby Tony has PSP and his progression of the illness seems to be very rapid. He is unable to get around without help and uses a walking aid and someone with him at all times. Fortunately his falls are less frequent now due to his inability to mobilise himself. However, he often forgets he is likely to fall and gets out of his chair or his bed when I am out of the room which inevitably results in him falling and lots of bumps and bruises. Every day I hate PSP more and more..........

For anyone living in the UK I noticed in the TV magazine this week that in the near future Seb Coe and Steve Cram are taking part on the ITV show Who Wants to be a Millionaire. No definite date for the show yet, but try and catch it if you can as Seb Coe is donating his share of the winnings to the PSP Association. Let's hope they manage to raise loads of money to help research into this very cruel illness. The programme goes out on national TV so it should help to raise awareness of PSP too.

Good luck to everyone affected by the illness and God Bless.

Dear all

many thanks for all the replies. Thank you Peterjones for your 'oil' information. It's my husband who suffers with PSP - we will give the oil a try. He used to have about 3-4 falls per day minimum. We now walk hand in hand indoors, which has reduced the falls to about one in a blue moon - he usually falls for the same reason as in Suzy Q's message. We used to have a roller and my strong arm out of doors. Now we have a wheelchair - great - we can now go further afield. We will tune in to Seb Coe on the 17 March.

This is such a wonderful site. xx

Many thanks for your reply, it is much appreciated. Of course I will expect my hubby to run around the block, with me chasing him!!! Only kidding - it does sound good though. We will try the oil and I will let you know the outcome.
