Toothpaste

In case this could help your loved ones, I read an article in a PSP Magazine that using toothpaste with fluoride helps as it doesn’t foam as much. I purchased toothpaste for babies and it seems to work.

Adding - whilst your loved one can still get to the dentist and open their mouth it my be worth asking for an enamel treatment. It takes under 10 seconds! The dentist simply paints the teeth with some stuff. It might save difficult dentistry later.

And then like all good 'medicine men' (women) they tell you to rinse your mouth with the potion and spit. I think it is to spit the evil teeth spirits out.

Yes, my brain has fried in this hot sunny weather - 🤪

Our dentist recommended Corsidol mouthwash as my wife is no longer on solid food there is nothing to stick between the teeth. We use baby tooth brushes. Nurses do mouthcare with sponge sticks. I don't as she nearly bit the end off and the nurses told me someone had choked to death on one. Baby toothbrushes are a lot safer.

Yes, Liz is using a good mouthwash too. Seems to be OK... I went through a phase of only using mouthwash for a couple of years... My dentist got no work and complimented me on my teeth (he knows my mouth well). They are very effective.

Thank you for the recommended mouthwash tip but unfortunately he cannot spit.

Liz lets it run out of her mouth onto a towel held for her and then drinks some water.

The NHS dentist Ben went to see at the hospital prescribed a high fluoride toothpaste to use once a day. You only have to use a pea sized blob. The SALT also recommended a low foam toothpaste that you have to buy yourself but I can't remember the name. I had a child's electric toothbrush for Ben, his choice was Power Rangers or Frozen, he opted for the first!

Thank you for this post I had no idea how many problems can arise from brushing teeth. I am find it quite tricky cleaning mums teeth she no longer spits out and rinsing is very difficult. I have also bought a child's electric toothbrush which has helped but I will try some of the other helpful suggestions like the baby toothpaste good idea. The enamel painting is something I will ask the dentist about too.

Thank you for this information about tooth paste, mouthwash and the enamel treatment. I had not heard of the PSP magazine and will try to track it down.
