So mum had the PEG fitted on Tuesday this week and had pulled it out by Wednesday night ππ’ she continues to pull out her saline drip so is now not getting nutrients or fluids! Was with her at the hospital last night and it took 6 attempts to get another cannula in...her veins keep collapsing as she is so dehydrated. I'm unsure if she is trying to tell us that she doesn't want this!! It's her worst nightmare to be bed ridden being kept alive by tubes. Meeting with the doctors today to discuss next step/ options. I feel so confused and want to do the right thing for my darling mum β€β€β€

Drama at every step
My husband and I had had many conversations in which he was very sure that he didn't want to go on when his quality of life was poor.
He was happy enough when it had already deteriorated in my eyes. Then he had another UTI.
Then he felt weak, was bed-bound, could only eat pureed food, see very little, not talk. So he refused to accept food and I knew the time had come for him. He was able to respond by hand squeezing to let me know. Refusing any more treatment and allowing him to go was so hard for me - but not for him. He was very peaceful.
My heart goes out to you.

Careenh maybe she wants to go? People go through so much. I had bloods taken a couple of weeks ago and it reminded me of G and what he went through. How can people cope with needles and canulla's going in all the time. Not to mention being unable to talk and tell you what they mean? It is surely one of the worst things ever.
Your Mother has been very lucky to have you take care of her and love her. I hope whatever happens now you will learn to live with it and just tell her you love her so she is reassured. That will help her a lot but it will also help you. It's very hard but we get there, or so I am told!
Hugs to you.

Thinking of you.
Such a hard situation to be in and question everything.
I'm sure you will make the right decision for your Mum.

When I have had enough my family have all agreed to 'let me go'.............
XXX to you and your mother.
I hope you had a helpful conversation with the medical staff. Feel for you, appreciate you are in a very difficult situation, particularly if you have never discussed choices. Hope a way becomes clearer
Take care
Love Tippy
Careen, we've seen so many stories here of patients who want to live and seem to do it despite all odds. If your mom WANTED to live, surely you would see some signs of it? All you are seeing are signs of rejection....
So very painful for you! Hugs for strength as you make these final decisions.

I know the torment you are going through but your mum, like many PSP sufferers can only take so much, and it would seem your mum is at that stage. My heart goes out to you be strong. Love Jxx
