Orgovyx question

I switched from Lupron to Orgovyx just over a month ago. I had been doing monthly Lupron injections. I finished radiation treatment in June.

I've found with Orgovyx that the depression I was experiencing is no longer a side effect and I feel pretty good other than some joint pain and insomnia.

One thing that concerns me is that I've been getting spontaneous erections again and also having orgasms. Neither of these things happened with Lupron. While I appreciate them for sure, does this mean Orgovyx isn't working? My next bloodwork to test for testosterone and PSA isn't until early October. I do take 50 mg of Sildenafil daily and 100 mg once a week.

Your posting is very timely and encouraging for me. I am in a similar situation having completed 25 radiation sessions 7/18/24 and having received 2 monthly shots of Lupron. My third shot of Lupron is due next Tuesday (8/13/24). I have already given my radiation oncologist a heads up that I want to switch to Orgovyx and do not want to continue with Lupron. He is open to this discussion on 8/13/24 as he should be. I am very much involved in my treatment. My decision to go with Orgovyx is from talking with other gay men and doing some homework on the drug. Primarily, Orgovyx has fewer cardio events compared to Lupron, Degarelix, and Zoladex Triptorelin that has been shown in clinical trials. Also, the recovery period to get Testosterone back could be quicker than the other ADT drugs. I had depression before PC Tx and seems to increase after Tx. I am taking medication to help. I would like some erections but my libido is pretty much gone. I will see how it goes with Orgovyx. Thanks, Rich

Libido is interesting. In the past, I would get horny just seeing a hot guy or thinking about sex and ADT has taken that away. However, when my husband starts foreplay with me, I'm able to get fully aroused (with Viagra). The sexual oncologist (not sure of his exact title but that's basically his job at my cancer center) explained that a strong connection with someone can override low-T, and that's been my experience since switching to Orgovyx. Lupron made me so depressed I had no thoughts about much of anything. Fortunately, I was doing monthly shots and within three weeks of switching to Orgovyx I started to feel better.

I had radiation and not surgery. YMMV but I hope you find something that makes the SE's more tolerable. It also helped that we had a good sex life before I was treated, and I was a very horny guy.

Frankly, I'm still amazed that there could be such a difference, for me, between the two drugs. It doesn't really make sense because they both do the same thing, i.e. lower T.
