Hey Fellas, Has anyone ever taken testosterone, post surgery, rt and adt? I was talking to a family friend who is a uro-surgeon, and he mentioned that I may want to ask about getting on testosterone once the adt part of my treatment is over and all is well for a little while. Thoughts?

Testosterone post ADT
Yes, I have been on Testosterone Replacement Therapy for 11 years -- since immediately after my treatment and indeed was advised that if my low T had been recognized before my PCa I should have been on it before during and after the PCa treatment (IGRT). Start with the following article, then follow up reading the many articles in medical journals by Abraham Morgenthaler (of Harvard Medical School).
You want to let your testosterone recover naturally at first, if it can. Perhaps aided by clomid or hCG. What is your T level and how long has it been since ADT ended?
I've been off Lupron for about 18 months (was on it for almost 18 months) and my testosterone has come back to only about half of what it was before we started. My urologist says he won't give my anything to artificially boost it, but he's ok with it coming back naturally. It was a little over 500 at the start of ADT and recently was just under 200. I've tolerated the whole process quite well - never have had a hot flash and no weight gain, just some low energy levels. An interesting factoid he told me on the last visit: testosterone naturally takes a dip in the afternoon so you might consider having blood drawn in the morning. I had a broader blood test with my PCP in the morning, which included T level, and it came back as 190. A few months later my urologist office did a blood draw in the afternoon and the T level was 150. My urologist said that from his perspective, considering the different times of day, the results were about the same. I've been a life long faithful swimmer and we think that's why I had so few side effects, but I can tell that my lower energy level has an impact on the quality of the swims.
