Sex before psa test

Forgot to refrain and had sex 36 hrs before my psa test. Results have increased from 4.2 to 4.8, could sex cause this increase

In theory it could. I did the same thing before one of my PSA tests. I told my MO who said just go get another test in a couple of days, which I did. In my case the second test was identical.

Maybe. Ask your urologist for a retest with Prostate Health Index (PHI).

Following my diagnosis last October I have my 1 yr follow up MRI scan and tp biopsy in a few weeks, so that's the acid test for now , ain't gonna lose any sleep, if urology want another psa then so be it, no harm done

Seeing PC feeds off Testosterone and that this increases when you have sex, could it be agued that if you have PC that having sex will only make the PC grow quicker??

Sex does not make testosterone. Have all the sex you can.

it will effect it ..... i have had numerous test in which i had sex 24 hours and 48 hours prior ... the numbers are different. Now i don't take a chance i sustain from sex for 5 days prior...

Free PSA is the number to watch if you are concerned about a jump before sex, it has a half-life of 110 min. See this article:
