2-3 weeks pregnant cb digital slight bleeding and cramping.

Hi I'm 37 and pregnant I had a miscarriage 16 years ago and this is the first time I have been pregnant since despite ttc it was a bit of a shock because I found out I was pregnant 3 days after I had finished a proper period because I started having brown spotting which has continued for a week and now I am having some dark brownish reddish bleeding but only when I wipe along with cramps I had blood tests done and my hcg did double but is still low because it's an early pregnancy I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this and was ok I have been a blubbering wreck for days tge bleeding isn't watery it's very thick kind of like paste I'm so sorry for the tmi and the cramps only hurt at night but still not enough for painkillers it's more uncomfortable I would love to hear from anyone that could help me understand what's going on I have a scan next Thursday but if feel a like years away I did the cb digital the night I started bleeding and it said 2-3 weeks I'm just praying everything is ok thanks for any advice or help anyone can give x

I had the same kind of bleeding you’ve described at around 4-5 weeks. Had a scan at the EPU and all was fine. Then a further, one off bright red bleed at 9 weeks, another scan and all was fine. It’s so worrying isn’t it?

What i’m learning is not all bleeding in pregnancy is bad e,g. The sonography told me the blood I saw at 9 weeks related to the placenta kicking in.

Who’s your scan been arranged through? Can you ask your gp to refer you to the early pregnancy unit for a scan sooner? Both my gp and midwife were very reassuring and encouraging of me getting scanned to set my mind at ease. Is it possible to pay for a private scan somewhere near you?

The rule of thumb seems to be if you get clots or enough blood to soak a pad and cramping, then there’s cause for concern.

Try to stay calm and take your mind of it. Easier said than done, I know.

Thank you for your reply pootleflumpet can I just say way of topic I love your user name it made me smile also I have to agree it's terrifying I just wish I could sleep for 9 months and wake up to give birth to a healthy baby if only it was that easy the bleeding is slightly heavier this morning And I seem to have cramping mainly at night it's not so bad that I need pain killers but it's uncomfortable it's more of an ache than a cramp i went to the early pregnancy unit who referred me to the gyno emergency unit and they did the 2 blood tests 48 hours apart which doubled but it's a very new pregnancy so it's to early for any thing to show on a scan so they are saying until next week there is nothing they can do I go the scan through the hospital it's just so confusing and scary I also have something called ehlers danlos syndrome which cause extra blood flow normally and produces to much collagen especially in the cervix so it gets irritated easily so there are so many possibilities but because of my age and previous miscarriage I'm terrified I'm trying not to obsess but it's so much easier said than done I am going to just keep praying my mum has me pretty much on bed rest until the scan and I did another test this morning the line is really strong and I know that might not mean anything but I'm trying to keep positive I'm so glad everything worked out for you congratulations and thank you for your help fingers crossed everything is ok and little bean stays nice and snug in my tummy.x
