Is an extra 30 week scan offered for IVF pregnancies?

I'm 15 weeks following IVF with ICSI. Pregnancy is low risk, I'm 32 with normal BMI and, as far as I've been told, all the tests from the 8 week midwife appt and 12 week scan have come back normal.

Following the 12 week scan, I booked in the standard 20 and 36 week scans. A few weeks later, I received a letter from the hospital offering me an additional scan at 30 weeks.

I'm very happy to have an extra scan so am by no means complaining about it. I'm just wondering why I've been offered this when, to my knowledge, no complications have been identified with the pregnancy. So the only thing I can think of is that it's protocol for IVF pregnancies. I've tried to ask but the midwife team say they don't know and are saying to contact the hospital but it's impossible to get through as hospital won't answer phone or email.

Has anyone experienced this and know if it's a standard thing following IVF?

yes, this is my second ivf pregnancy and they usually do additional growth scans with ivf pregnancies. I have one booked for next week when I’m 32 weeks. I will also then have the 36 week scan xx

I had extra scans and the consultant said as it was IVf he was able to offer me them so I (very happily!) took them even though no complications at all. I was also offered and advised to be induced at 39weeks due to IVF xx

Yep, you normally get put under consultant care and get extra scans if you're IVF. I had no other risk factors but the consultant explained IVF is classed as a risk factor because there's usually a reason for having IVF or related issues in the first place (recurrent losses, endo etc). It felt like a bit of a waste of his time but I was opting for a c-section so I would have had extra appointments and scans anyway. It was very reassuring - my second successful pregnancy was natural and I had almost no appointments or scans and they missed that I had complete placenta previa and that my waters had gone! So I would take the extra scans and appointments if offered, even if it's just nice to see the baby more often.

I've been offered a 32 week scan followed by an obstetric appointment on the same day preceding the 36 week one, they are recommending induction at 39 weeks solely because I'm over 40, but the obstetrician said IVF is no longer so much of a risk factor in his/his unit's view as ART has become so common nowadays.

We are thinking to opt for 32 weeks to know the location of placenta, then maybe do the 36 week one if there is any issue found - reading the pages below, issues like placenta previa can't be confirmed until 32 weeks.
