I'm on housing & Council tax benefit, having problems since my return to work, council say I've had a salary increase, General Manager (GM) said no, council notified, last day on furlough 31 July council say that's the day I went back to work, went back 1 August, paid in arrears pic of August payslip sent to council showing furlough rate sent to council, pic of August slip showing complete salary details sent to council last week

Just had email from council saying they're still waiting on info from me, if they don't get it by 2 October my claim will be cancelled, they've already got all my hours down there as they changed in August and council have been notified

Sorry for the moan but really fed up and struggling with it all now

Try ringing CAB to see if they can advise (I'm sure they can) or are you in a union?

Hi Jennymary. My only advice is to send a copy of your payslips by signed for mail. You then have proof that you did supply the information before the deadline.

Thanks for the advice, but they've had July and August payslips by email

They can deny receipt, Jennymary. I had that happen to me when I was appealing an esa decision. The CAB advised I always send documents by signed for delivery, then they cannot deny receipt even if no one has looked at them. Emails can end up as spam or even get lost. You can prove you sent an email, but you cannot prove they received it.

Thought about ringing, but I need a paper trail, but may try anyway, far too upset right now

I know Jennymary and my deepest empathy. It's all so frustrating to try to have anything resolved nowadays. I have a 78 year old friend who has recently had to start paying for her TV licence and the licensing authority has taken her payment twice. She's continually phoned and emailed to be refunded, and is constantly told by each person she speaks to that it's being dealt with, and then it isn't. It all falls on deaf ears and is mired in bureaucracy! As she's pointed out, that's a whole week of her state pension gone missing, but no-one ever stops to think what a struggle it is for ordinary everyday people without the resources available to overpaid government and civil servants. It's actually sickening! I hope you can find a way to get this resolved!

It frustrates me greatly when all you seem to receive is lies and excuses in regard to sorting things out!

At my previous job one colleague had been asking management for ages could she work an extra day a week and they had kept fobbing her off with excuses of why it couldn't happen.

Then there was a staff meeting and this colleague had cried in front of everyone in sheer frustration after she had received more excuses of why the extra day she had requested couldn't happen and I had said to her did she want to join me for a walk round the neighbourhood near the office as I always feel better after a walk outside like I did on Friday after that carry on over the electricity meter and with that what had upset me was the rude attitude having the door banged and the buzzer rung umpteen times at 7.45 in the morning and one of my friends said that was rude to have done that as with respect having a new meter fitted isn't an emergency which was why I had responded in temper on Friday when they had said about switching the power off just to explain why I had reacted the way I did!

Back to the crying colleague well she had said she would love to have joined me for lunch and a walk but she only had 20 mins for lunch and I thought it was disgusting the way they treat other colleagues there and more fool them for letting it happen!

With myself I had applied for a program there back in 2017 which was called a taster program where you did work experience in different depts and they had kept fobbing me off as well with excuses of why I couldn't happen do what I did just before i unofficially made the decision to leave was I took control of the situation and I had told them to stick their taster program thing as I had decided I was no longer interested and everyone else had clapped and cheered!

It's extremely frustrating though when you are on benefits and are desperate for the money and all you receive is silly excuses of why things can't happen.

Hi Jennymary, is it possible to get copies of your wage slip from payrol, they should be able to duplicate your original payslips. 🌸🌷

They're sent by email from head office, I don't have a printer here, but worst case scenario is I send the emails to my sister and get her to print them off at work

As I'm paid in arrears that could make a bad situation worse, as they'll see in August I got x amount which is furlough, September is y amount which is correct salary for August when I actually worked, but thanks for the suggestion

I really feel for you Jennymary. I agree with what others have said by sending copies of everything needed by recorded delivery.

Wishing you the best of luck.

Take care xx

Did you send Photocopies? I do hope so, its never wise to send originals to Councils, as often they get 'Lost', whether by accident or not.

Always send Photocopies, and send them by Special Delivery; It costs more, but you can track it, which you can't with Signed for.

Cheers, Midori
