Hospitality Industry and Me and My Job as Kitchen Porter!

Wearing masks doesn't exclude washing your hands regular, as that is equally important!

In our restaurant all staff, have to wear face masks now and follow scrupulously hygiene measures with social distancing in place for all!

To organise all this + implement all of government guidelines, policies + procedures combined with restaurant policies + procedures + lots more! It has been a big task for all restaurant staff and Management!

We had to finish all our new COVID-19

CPL LEARNING, TO SAFELY RETURN BACK TO WORK!

HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY is working very hard to allow our Guests to enjoy a safe restaurant experience in a safe, clean and hygienic environment!

Me and all of my colleagues will have to work harder, following hygiene and social distancing measures and lots more!

Trust me, loosing your job, after being made furloughed 20th March, is the fear of every employee in this industry! Some did loose their jobs where I work!

So me and my colleagues doing everything possible, to be part of creating that safe environment, front of house and back of house, Kitchen, where I work in!

We are not out the woods yet, but we all can make a safe environment happen, TOGETHER!!!!! πŸŒˆπŸ™β€οΈ

But I understand all the fears we have, eating out, shopping etc! Also because if you are in the high risk group (shielding) and now still very cautious!

I am nervous as well, but had to clear with my GP FIRST, before return back to my work! I have health issues too and yes I am anxious but I have to overcome that! But I keep my options open just in case!

Just stay safe all please πŸŒˆπŸ™β€οΈ

Hi Snowdrops_17, yesterday, when I was out shopping I noticed signed on Public houses that serve food saying things like, this is a safe pub. They had advertisements outside clearly stating the hygienic measures they where taking inside with regards to serving food and beverages. I didn't eat out a lot anyway but I thought it was very encouraging for people who do, to have this type of reassurance to start getting some custom back.😊

Bobbybob, thank you for that!πŸŒˆπŸ™β€οΈ

We are all nervous, but compliance for us as staff and guests is key if we want to survive! I want to keep my job, despite being diagnosed with ischaemic heart disease + vascular disease last year after my heart attack! I am at moderate risk my GP told me in a letter, social distancing etc has to be adhered to for me especially and all!

I see how it goes at work! I pray it will work out for us all!πŸŒˆπŸ™β€οΈ

My sister and I went to a pub local to me last Saturday, very well organised the door on the road was closed and they've opened the doors only by the car park, double doors one in one out, my sister ordered at the bar she said only a couple of people ordering, drinks set out on a, separate table, only a few tables available, we came away pleased with everything, we're going to a different pub tomorrow so I'll let you all know about that one tomorrow

Yes please, tell me how you got on!

All restaurant staff want to keep guests safe! That's paramount! It's either that or stay closed really! Staying closed means loss of our employment! So we are fighting ready Jenny Mary!

Anyway guys need to colour my hair now to get rid of the Greys πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸŒˆπŸ™β€οΈ

Thanks Snowdrops_17. That's a very thoughtful and important post. Everything you've pointed out is so true and it boils down to doing what you are so bravely doing, and that's getting on with things in a way that tries to keep you and the customers you serve, safe. It is hard on all of us, but so hard on those who are fearful of losing their employment too. Sending good wishes for you too to remain safe. Take good care. πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

I used to work as a catering assistant in a university kitchen many years ago.

Well so you know how tricky the new normal is now catgirl πŸ‘Œ

What a very well worded post Snowdrops_17 . You have highlighted very well the amount of effort that is being put in to the hospitality industry.

As you say, we all need to do our bit to ensure everyone's safety.

Please stay safe and well and all the very best for tomorrow.

Was a tough 2 days at work, yesterday felt never ending! We were really busy, dishes, pots and pans etc piling up! Went home after my shift, totally exhausted! Glad have 2 days off, today and tomorrow! Felt my lower back twinging yesterday, not a good sign that!

Praying I get back into a routine at work again! Must admit, getting too old for this hard job! Wished I could leave, but that's not an option, as I am flexi furloughed now! Secondly wouldn't get my support from universal credit either, so it's tricky! Covid-19, has messed a lot of options up job wise really! Feel sad today! πŸ˜’πŸ™πŸ˜’

in reply to Snowdrops_17

Oh my goodness, the restrictions make it so much harder as well asyou are cleaning more than ever. I'm glad you e had today and have tomorrow off. I hope it gives your back chance.

I really hope you get into a routine quickly and it gets easier. I'm so sorry it's not an option now for you to leave.

I'm sorry you are feeling sad and I hope you feel better very soon.

Take care xxπŸŒ»πŸ™πŸŒˆ

Thanks Alicia, I cried on and off today! Felt distraught! It's not the cleaning, it's being overwhelmed with all the washing up yesterday and I was the only kitchen porter until 5 pm! It's really hard to work on your own! The pressure is immense! Not sure if I want to cope with that on a continuous basis! Not sure at all!?!

At least I received my letter from GP ABOUT MY HEALTH CONDITION! WELL work can decide now to either make me part time or to let me go! Up to them now! πŸ™

in reply to Snowdrops_17

Oh no, that's really hard for you, being on your own. I'm glad for you you cried as it does help even if it doesn't feel like it at the time. It's not something that you should be able to cope with at all.

I'm glad you've got your letter, now let's see what happens.

Please take care and think of number one, you.

You are right Alicia, you are so right! Thank you, thank you for your mental support, needed that, really did! Do feel very alone at times mulling things over and over about what to do! Praying, God will give the answer to decide what to do about my job and all! My future life really! So much depends on this, my life in the UK because of my children and grandchildren here!

Often I wished I stayed in Germany when my Ex had to leave the Army 1993! It was a heartbreaking decision for me! I asked myself often, "was it worth it all"?

in reply to Snowdrops_17

You are very welcome and I'm glad I've been able to give you some support. I really hope a decision is reached very soon.

Your family are very important.

In relation to leaving Germany, I think it's much better not to look back but move forward, it's something I've learnt after some difficult times. I know it isn't easy but try not to look back and move forward.

Take care of yourself, you are important.

I'm sure you will and will come out of this with positivity. Definitely to look forward, we must only look back on lovely memories and treat them as that, memories. It's taken me a while but I now look forward.

Night night and sleep tight. xxπŸ˜ŠπŸ•‰πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ˜πŸ’œ

Thank you for all the extra work! I hope people feel comfortable coming to your establishment.

I am not sure how many know all the effort that goes on behind the scenes.
