Hi Roukaya.

Loneliness is a state of mind. Look out and listen to the birds singing. Look at the beautiful nature around you. If you are on your own, do a jigsaw puzzle or in the words of, "who wants to be a millionaire", phone a friend. Always remember there is always someone worse off than you. I have been playing my accordion on my street and have all the neighbours doing the okay kokey. It lifts my spirit and theirs.Keep your mind and body active.

Remember all the things you have got rather than all the things you miss. Now is the time to accept help from your neighbours. Give and you will receive.

Take care and God bless.

Regards Flyer.

I do have things to do

I should focus on this instead of thinking about being alone

Think of what you can do in this time , I agree

Thank you

How will you spend your day

Hi again Roukaya

I am lucky enough to have a wonderful wife. We are about to have a zoom church service with the children. We can see and speak to them online. It is as if we see them in reality. Helps to keep us as sane as possible.

It's a beautiful day, we may go for a stroll later. Hope your day is full of fun and joy.

Regards Flyer.

Good morning,

My advice with past experience is to have a routine and I would start that by getting up having a shower, breakfast and then straight out for a walk. I think when you do this you feel more energised and motivated. Say hello to people walking past and appreciate what you have got and look for things to be grateful for and you will find more and more to be grateful and happy about. You don’t necessarily wake up happy every day but you have to choose happiness. Also of course the opposite is true if you look for faults and problems you only see the faults and problems as they are what you are attracting to yourself and they are what stand out to you. (Not you as such, as I don’t know you but “one”) Anything in your life you are not happy with change it. You are the master of your destiny.

The best cure also in my experience after suffering from generalised anxiety disorder and recovering is to meditate, meditate, meditate either yourself, or find music or a relaxation meditation, chanting or relaxing music on you tube find what suits you. Also the thing with anxiety is the more you focus on it the more it grows the less attention it receives it goes away.

I hope this helps and you have a better day today.

Ali

Good morning

I hope you are well

I think by being on this site I have began to understand my own mental health issues

I used to be a very structured and disciplined person but I have let my own personal issues cloud my ability to plan ahead

But I will try to structure my day and continue to persevere little by little and not let the anxieties brought on by my personal issues overwhelm me

We are in Ramadan so I can use my time in prayer which is a form of meditation

I hope you have a safe and pleasant day ahead

Thank you for asking

Hi Roukaya,

Have you ever tried relaxing with YouTube? Honestly I was never much of a user before this crisis, but I've become a firm fan. I can while away lots of time there and I get really involved and learn so much from the videos I watch. Of course there's lot there that's not for me, but I just skip that and move on to something of more personal interest.

Yesterday I spent my morning in the US, exploring Appalachia past and present: the people, the music, the dance and the geography. In the afternoon I travelled through a part of Russia and Moldova with my own personal guide, enjoying a drink on the terrace of a Moldovan home in his company and that of three 'babushkas'. The whole world is at YouTube. Learn the lyrics of a favourite song, join someone in their own kitchen and learn to cook a new dish, travel to almost all countries of the world and in doing so, learn a great deal.

And continuing the topic of music, if you are ever feeling down, there is nothing like listening to a cheerful song and joining in. It can lift your mood in a moment. Or for drifting off to sleep, there are any number of videos which can help to calm you and lull you off to sleep.

My other recommendation would be Duolingo. It's a fantastic resource. An easy way to learn a new language absolutely for free and can be done at your own pace.

I hope you have a good day today and pass it pleasantly. Take care.

Good morning

I hope you are safe and well .

Thank you for your kind reply.

I am slowly beginning to learn that I should not let my anxiety get the better of me.

I should try to discipline the mind.

I am beginning to realise I already have stress and anxiety issues and being an only child the worries of my Mother can exacerbate this

I used to attend the Mind , Body and Spirit Festival and they also have a number of free Pod Casts in uplifting our mental outlook.

I should do more prayers during Ramadan as this is a form of meditation too,

Music I agree can be incredibly uplifting

I have also learnt to fast for a few days and then take a day off in between as I did yesterday

It is important to balance the mind as well as the body

Your post about You Tube and visiting the countries of the world absolutely fascinating and I will look into this as well as learning a new language on Duolingo as I would like to learn some words of Arabic

Are you learning a new language ?

I hope you keep safe and well

Kindest Wishes

Hi Roukaya, I hope your day is going well and you are having a pleasant afternoon. I think Callendersgal's suggestions are really useful. I might look into learning a new language myself. I think it's good to keep some sort of routine, that way, if you are having a bit of a rough day, you have focus. Routines get boring so what you must also do is add variety to the routine. So add some daily exercise or meditation anything really that you like. Also try new things you have never done before because that keeps the routine interesting. xx

Hello

Thank you for reply

Your suggestions and Callendergalls are very helpful

I have started fasting again as I took a day off yesterday

I will try to fast for a few days and take a day’s break until Ramadan ends in 20 days

I have a prayer routine to do prayer, read the Koran and try to rest

I have the members in this site to be very kind and supportive and encouraging

I have always appreciated kindness

I would like to study Arabic a very hard language to master but a very beautiful language

What language would you like to learn ?

Hi Roukaya

I'm so glad you find the support on here really helpful.

Although I'm not on my own, I have my hubby with me, I do go out cycling and walking on my own. Hubby is asthmatic so is keeping himself isolated.

The exercise I'm doing is keeping my mind healthy and I phone my youngest daughter every day but do miss my granddaughters like crazy but I know I've got a lot to look forward to and that is seeing them in the flesh and cuddling them when I can.

My youngest daughter said something very poignant today, she said people had this for over 5 years in the war, they didn't know if they'd have homes, see their loved ones again and of course had rationing. This definitely gave me food for thought.

We are in this together so let's pull together and support each other.

Stay safe and take care.

Good Afternoon

I hope you are safe and well

I did not realise the sacrifices of those in the war for five years , quite incredible

I think if anything this teaches us to be more accepting of our current situation with more patience and understanding,

I have resumed fasting today and I will do a few days and have an intermittent rest

I hope one day to visit Mum or for Mum to visit ,

It is very kind of you to offer support

I appreciate this very much

I hope you remain safe and well

Hello

Thank you for being kind enough to answer my post

Much appreciated

I really need to let go of the anxiety and find a creative outlet

I used to write creative short stories depicting various characters and caricatures and bring them to life

Thanks for your understanding and I hope you remain safe and well

You don't have to be at the mercy of whatever negative idea comes into your mind, we all have the power to choose our thoughts. Try setting aside say ten minutes every day to worry then make the choice to think positively for the rest of the day. Also exercise is very helpful.
