I think it's really hard at the moment for lots of us to come up with something positive Mia898. Life's a little freer, but not that much, and with that has come a new realisation that this could be going on for a long time still.
I think you have to find that thing which will make you look to the future with a little bit more enthusiasm but it's such an individual thing for each person. Is there any hobby, course or study which appeals to you? Maybe something you'd see an end result from, long after the pandemic is over?
Hobbies are a great thing if you are invested in one, as they can be all-absorbing and are pleasurable both while you are doing them and again if there's an end result.
One thing that's helped me in the past is to pick a country I'd like to visit and then study its language, in readiness for my visit. Nine times out of ten I never get to go wherever it is, but I pick up a smattering of language that stands me in good stead whether it's when watching a foreign movie or just suddenly overhearing something and understanding it.
It could and probably will be something entirely different for you, but there's probably a germ of an idea somewhere of something, no matter how random, that's of interest to you.π
Hi, I'm finding researching the origin of individual Nursery Rhymes very absorbing. I hope to be giving a talk to a group of people using this as a topic when things get back to some normality.
Out of interest who do you think Humpty Dumpty was?
Cheers.

No idea inform me
It was an egg who fell off a wall and cracked ( in the rhyme).
You can always do crocheting and make blankets.πππ
Well, Humpty Dumpty wasn't a person at all! It was a massive siege cannon used by Royalist Forces (The Kings Men) during the English Civil War. The war raged between 1642 - 1651. During the siege of Colchester in 1648 the Royalists hauled HUMPTY Dumpty to the top of the church tower of St. Mary-at-the-walls and for eleven weeks, Humpty sat on the wall and blasted away at the attacking Parliamentarians (Roundheads) under Oliver Cromwell who were attacking the town. The Roundheads eventually blasted Humpty and it collapsed and fell to the ground. So, "All the Kings horses and all the Kings men, couldn't put Humpty together again"! So sad! Well, it depends if you were a follower of King Charles II or Oliver Cromwell.
Interesting and fascinating history.
Cheers π
I once read an article that said you can try this:
Sit down with a pen and paper. Then scribble down, as quickly as you can, without really thinking, a long list of things that pop into your mind when you ask yourself the question, 'What excites me?' The article said that when you hit on the thing that really touches and motivates you, you will feel a sudden rush of emotion and perhaps have tears welling up. ππΈ
Hi that sounds felt good I feel up down from various things happening looking for a different approach hope this will help release my grief from losing my dad and the house next door to my mum I wanted, it's like I want to have a good cry I'm now panicking about been safe on new job starting September on the school buses as said no social distancing September them masks aren't a guarantee of been safe I will do the writing today love the cat picture is it yours
Have you looked to see what is free in your local area. There might be some groups you can join. Sometimes the Universities, run free lectures on interesting topics that are open to the public. ππΈ
There really is not much to look forward to, as I used to belong to a couple of groups held at my local library. Now, they will probably not resume until next year. I now live in fear that my town may be caught up in a local lockdown, as we live just on the border of Sandwell, West Midlands. I really feel like ducking out of it all, as the though of being trapped in my small flat is causing major depression. Why the government cannot clamp down on the businesses that are causing the problems I cannot understand. I do not want to live in a half world without scenery, and more and more of our shops closing down permanently because of local lockdown after local lockdown. It is like serving a prison sentence. As for hobbies, mine have all gone out of the window. If you happen to live in a decent area, take advantage of your freedom and go out for walks, or try voluntary work. It certainly is a miserable life now, and one not really worth living, well, that are my thoughts on the matter. Incidentally, I am not popular on this site, as I speak my mind, and do not try to dress things up. I do wish you well though.
Yes I agree somewhat I find walking in nature very helpful and gardening for anyone lucky enough to have one although it just rains most of the time I'm still optimistic October be nice it's always been a good month not too hot and lots of sunny days
You are safe, you are well. Thank God for that. I can't think of anything more positive. Try to focus on one day at a time. No point in looking back. That has gone. No point in worrying about the future, it hasn't happened yet. Have a good day. x
How about any friends or family?
