Can I ask what made you believe this number to be a scam please.

I have checked it online and it appears to be a genuine call from NHS England.

Unless of course some nasty person has been able to hijack that number.

I have a letter from my local health authority telling me to expect a call from the number you mention.

It's possible I am still hard to say who is ok or not should have asked them to name me I guess

If it was genuine it is far better to be suspicious and wary than the other way around.

It is Perfectly 'Alright' to be Suspicious, of any Unexpected/ Unknown Calls. I have Questioned several, quite 'Legitimate' calls. My own Hospital Consultant, Dr Andi, asked Me to confirm by Date Of Birth, when he called ME. I myself have Questioned calls, that I haven't recognised. One was my Dentist, using their 'other' number.

So maybe NOT a Scam.... Maybe?

If you aren't sure a call is genuine then hang up or don't answer it.

Better safe than sorry!

Let them call you back and leave a message on your voicemail. If it’s real, call them back.😀👍

While it is possible for scammers to clone a genuine phone number so you think that they are calling from a genuine organisation, if in doubt, check the number from a genuine source and call it back. If it was genuine you can always apologise for being suspicious the first time around.

Called today, asked for me by name and wouldn't talk to my wife, just confirming I was on the vunerable list and if I needed a free emergency food drop which I don't, seemed a very pleasant helpful gentleman, I live in central London (Westminster), don't know where Smilfer165 lives but maybe a local NHS thing.
