Today I helped write a grant request for our local search and rescue.

Pictures are okay, so I took some of theirs (they're amazing) and used an online collage maker to show just what the grant request is supporting!

Glad to see the search dog, then the ponies/horses, I wondered what sort of distance the Team must cover, I presume greater than our Mountain Rescues do in Wales and Scotland. I do not think I have seen horses out with ours. I used to love watching the TV programmes watching the search and rescue dogs being trained.

Our county is 3120 square miles, with 6400 people.

30 miles to the east is a river gorge 4000-5000 feet deep.

3 miles from town there are mountains that rise 5000'.

google.com/search?q=wallowa... this link takes you to some pictures: We have mountains, prairies, lakes, forests....

Thanks, sounds a great place to live, certainly need the horses!! I looked at your figure for population and wondered how the busy London Borough I live in compared, as we have high traffic pollution, light pollution, so at night very difficult to see any stars. We are 22.17 square miles, with a population of 196,904 (as of 2018). I think I would have problems sleeping where you live, until I got used to the silence, but it does sound lovely.

It's way different :)

Thanks!

What a terrific collage Wallowa and it effectively shows what wonderful work your group does. I hope they are successful with their grant! 👍🙏😊🌈

They just turned it in. Fortunately we should know fairly soon who got it!

Hi, Hidden .

Nice seanery.

I live close to the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB), and I can walk from my house up 200m hills, or along the river, which, occasionally, gets up to within a metre or two of the level of my cellar!

We get snow most decades!

Last year I used my Jeep and trailer to help a local group put gravel on a muddy footpath.

I am not far from Stratford-upon-Avon (which I try to avoid).

I'll have to look your area up online, it sounds lovely

So that's what you've been up to, I've been wondering where you were. The pictures are fantastic Wallowa and I used the link to see all those absolutely beautiful pictures. It really is a stunning place. I liked the video too and felt quite envious when I saw the hang glider preparing to take off and thought what a wonderful way to see all that beauty uninterrupted. Thanks for sharing. The search and rescue team look like they do a sterling job. xx

Thanks. I used to guide hour long discovery walks around the area. It was hilarious when the hang gliders landed on the edge of the lake, right next to us!

Good for you to be helping out. Worthwhile.

in reply to daveh121

It really is! I was so happy to have a constructive way to contribute. Plus I learned how to make collages online at no charge, so learning something fun and useful was also a benefit. Thanks!
