I feel better and a lot safer since the Gov tightened up,enforcing guidelines . I know there are a few silly folk and grey areas where people are working / having to work.I am mainly self employed but only since late last year following a painful hand op I will receive nothing in way of pay but husband and son are here for lots of support .Supermarkets have a better orderly queuing system and space at checkouts so I am less worried now than I was 5 days ago - sort of adjusting. The air near our local bypass feels fresher and no noisy aircraft pass over my garden . If I have to drive out to shop there are no mad traffic jams so for me the world is weirdly quiet but I actually like it . Obviously not the reasons why this has happened but I feel this cleaner space is better for us all as I live in a in clogged congested suberb of a major city.

I have time to read ,clean , cook , chat to so many old friends I haven't spoken to because of my former busy crazy life and shopping for neighbours that 2 weeks ago I didn't know. My husband being at home means we have that hour together to walk.I wouldn't say I am totally enjoyng this as it only takes a second think why it is happening but please ..everyone try and take a liitle bit of goodness out of more time for yourself and more time to chat/ phone others . Today I am learning Spanish and exercising via You Tube.

Has anyone else started feeling like this ?

I live in the inner city as well and for me I find it a lot better with less traffic on the road at present and the air does feel a lot fresher than it did before this kicked off.

A lesson in this is about living for today and also about thinking twice before you go out to shop asking do I really need this and if you don't then no don't go as I won't be going to a supermarket from now on unless I am really desperate and there's no other choices but the corner shops are great for small things like bread and milk.

I agree but I have tended to do very large shop about once every 5 days as I am shopping for neighbours too . As people have gone out for that hour walk the local shops have started to see the impact of the walk / shop locally idea so our locals have not much in them . Off putting though is the supermarket queue which was ok in the sun last week but rather dark and grey today.

Too little too late, the government knew what was coming, they should have done this at least three weeks ago and stopped people going abroad on holiday in early February.

I had to make three visits to the chemist to complete my prescription, which I re-ordered in plenty of time, 8 days after ordering it's wasn't ready 11 days after ordering it was only partially ready I finally got the complete script after three round trips totalling 42 miles and queueing outside the chemists after walking down the street 14 days after ordering.

We didn't panic buy we do one weekly shop making a list and only top up with what we need, have not had toilet rolls since this all began and only one packet of flour, luckily we do our cooking from fresh produce.

We are not the only one suffering from greed, many others can't get basics and many people on a low budget can't afford to buy £2-300 worth of goods in one.

Again Bo Bo the clown and the rest of the circus should have known there would be panic buying and introduced rationing over a month ago.

Luckily I ordered a delivery on 17th March, it will not arrive till to-morrow, there are no more slots available.

On Monday whilst we were staying at home there were a group of people kite surfing on the beach that we could see from our house

Imagine if another party were in power, this lot and their tame media would be shouting blue murder.

We all have our personal stories and yours are a common example of how a lot are struggling . Stories of house parties when the majority of us doing our bit I find annoying . My holiday on 19 March - flight went to Portugal and we were sent an email for customer satisfaction the same day . We didn't go and were happy not to . I received a few mutterings of abuse when I came into the crowded car park yesterday with a loaded trolley but I feel that those with a car could shop for others like I do . If government gave this advice then there would be less couples shopping - say 1 stay in the car ..it isn't an outing either . There would be less people about too as I easily shopped for others .

I am the same . I like the slower pace of life and a walk out daily with my husband who I don't see as often I would like - now at home even though he is upstairs working and me down has that reassurance we all need . Plenty have phoned me too and that quick chat has been a lovely 1 hour call with a 100% pledge to meet up later on . I feel I cherish all these people more and the time to speak as I am at home has been great .

The quietness is lovely, I hadn't realised just how noise affected me; in some ways I'll be sad when this is over.

OK, I live close to a main route through to a ferry port, but even that is less bothersome now. The ferries are only twice a day, at I am and I pm, we call it 'The Rush Hour!' The big trucks going through are almost the only noise now. We don't have an air corridor overhead, so very little plane noise.

Bliss.

Cheers, Midori

I would love to have some peace, I have to shield for 12 weeks can't go anywhere, however the person in the flat upstairs has decided to carry out DIY all weekend he's been at it drilling, sawing banging. Quite frankly it's driving me nuts! Hopefully it won't go on for 12 wks one can but hope!

in reply to CATHYJAY

Houses will have never looked so good with all this DIY going on, I hope the banging doesn't go on to long for you.

Quite honestly I don't think people should be doing it particularly if they get injured then maybe using resources that may be needed for the pandemic. It's rather selfish I feel.

in reply to CATHYJAY

What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?

Oh dear, I'm so sorry. Perhaps you could have a word with him and ask him to keep it to certain hours? If it is a Local Authority or housing association flat, perhaps your Council could let him know he's being a nuisance, and ask him to stop.
