Endeavouring to stay positive

β€’63 Replies

Hi all

Hope you are all ok and staying safe and well, we will beat this.

Exercise is my 'go to' to stay positive and I'll admit that I've needed it a fair bit lately as like a lot of others there have been times where I've struggled.

I've been to the gym a fair bit lately. I weighed myself at home and had put on just under 3 lbs so I thought I would check my stats at the gym. I was pleased to see that I've lost 2% fat and gained 2% muscle, the reason for putting on weight.

I've a little work to do round my middle but I'm definitely getting there. This is keeping me right on track. Also, the gym is reasonably quiet so perfect.

Please stay safe and well.

Thank you Sue. I expect we'll all end up in lockdown so I'll exercise at home, I know Zest follows a video onlineπŸ™

Hi Alicia I always feel better after a good walk and it was just getting dark so no park but saw nice lights on houses and fur trees, my mam has a little exercise thing she can do sitting down, I need muscle not been doing any d I y lately apart from tryner ment the toilet, 🀯😊and I've lost weight I'm 8.stine 11 after tea and toast lol so be about 8.1o not sure but I'm looking too thin I've been a stone under weight for couple years as it just drops off me when I'm upset and I hardly drink alcohol now and don't eat much sugar I don't have any fat except cold pressed rapseed oil bit cheese and cholestrol lowering butter spread, as you know I'm hoping to go swimming soon, my ideal weight is about 9 half I'm five foot 5 half, I've always had a bit of a tum I don't think that would ever go but im not really bothered I used to do chest and arm muscle exercises I like to keep strong, and at least I'm on the hrt patches to help reduce the collogen loss, I felt even tireder yesterday for logging about and sat in bed half the day on here I won't do that again I have a viewer at 12 tomorro so I be up early and early walk have a good night πŸŒπŸŒ›xx

in reply to

Exercise is very good. I bet the lights were lovely.

Oh my goodness, you're tiny. Personally I like to be around 9 stone as I'm 5 ft 4". I'm more of a snack eater now and tend to have a banana in the morning with water, a lunch of sourdough bread, tomatoes or red peppers, vegan cheese, 15g of veggie straws and a homemade sweet potato brownie.

I'm building up strength as I noticed I'd really lost strength in my arms and legs.

Hope you have a good night.

πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ™Œ πŸ‘you’re so lucky your gym opens, I’m just using my elliptical at home😒so boring.

in reply to

I don't think it'll be for much longer as I think we'll be in lockdown, then it'll be working out at home. It is boring at home but when weather is good enough I'll go on powerwalks. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ xx

Great job Alicia ❀️ Oh yes cross my fingers as it’s gonna be over by the time I’m back to workπŸ€— I’ve been on my little bicycle to go to convenient stores and supermarkets for essentials these days 😹

in reply to

I really do hope it's over soon KoKo, I hope it's over when you go back to work. Well done on getting on your bike, forgot to mention I have a bike so I'll be cycling as well, particularly if we are in lockdown as the roads are so quiet then. xxπŸ₯°πŸŒˆπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

Wow!! Well done you!! I will be back on my pedals tomorrow now I'm not dashing to the loo!! I use the pedals for my arms as well, burn more calories this way. I've lost just over 2 stones since cutting out sugary foods and exercising more!! Lots of love and hugs Lynne xxxx β€οΈπŸ’œ

That's great Alicia lost fat and gained muscle! yes exercise is great for the mental health i miss my classes, we're in another total lockdown here in Wales but hoping to get back to it in January, have a great Christmas with your lovely family and stay safe and well, love from pamela and Little Paws xx

in reply to LittlePaws

Yes I'm pleased about losing the fat for sure, not good to carry too much of it. It really is good for mental health. Personally I think the UK will be in total lockdown very soon and I think it needs to be the way in which the cases are rising. I do hope you get back to your classes in January. If we stop travelling from area to area then the cases will naturally drop and die away.

I hope your Christmas goes as well as it can Pamela.

Alicia and Big Paws, well that's my cat anyway as he's not small ha ha xx

Yes, my thoughts precisely!! I just don't understand why these people flout the rules!! We would be so much further on with everything now!! The Scientists and everyone else have worked so hard all through this pandemic. Hubby works in a prison and one of my friends lit one of her church candles for Dave which I thought was lovely. They aren't listening. If travel was stopped from area to area and country to country then we would be further on.

Continue your health journey into 2021 :) . Fat to muscle ratio, and BMI are great indicators of health/ fitness measurement. Muscle mass takes up less space, and is denser than fat mass, which takes up more space. :| I hope you looked into buying a scale that measure fat muscle, and bone weight. I believe the Weight Watchers digital scale was around $35 on sale almost 10 years ago :) . It still works. I haven't changed the battery. It has automatic shut off after a 10 second digital display :) . If it stopped working I would just buy another one. :| You are one of the people on this site, that keeps me motivated in working out. Happy Holidays to you , and your loved ones :| fitness.

in reply to RLN-overcomer

Thank you so much for your kind words. I can't wait to go back to the gym which will probably be tomorrow. The machine at the gym is really good for measuring your fat, muscle and hydration, I was a little dehydrated but that was because I had just completed a tough workout.

Those scales sounds really good, I'll look for them in the UK.

Happy holidays to you as well, here's to an even fitter 2021.

Alicia πŸ™πŸ‘

How can you find out how much fat you have lost and how much muscle you have gained

in reply to PedallingMinstrel

It's a machine I use in the gym that measures what your body has. You stand on it with bare feet, hold metal handles and just stand very still whilst it measures. Have a look at RLN-overcomer reply to me re scales.πŸ‘

in reply to

Daz very interesting I never heard that before. My gym doesn’t have it. I only have the Nokia smart scale maybe it is not accurate then.

in reply to

It's called a FitQuest and it's brilliant. Sounds like RLN-overcomer has a very good pair of scales. I've never owned a smart pair of scales so I'm going to look into a pair for home.πŸ™πŸŒˆ xx

Alicia, can you do the one hand tree pose? I’ve been struggling hard, kept falling πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

in reply to

Oh my goodness, the tree pose has got to be one of the hardest, my foot always slips down my leggings πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

in reply to

Oh the tree pose is fine with me 😜 Do you have the nonslip socks? I find that help. The one hand stand tree pose is the one that I kept falling on my face 🀣🀣🀣🀣

in reply to

I didn't know you could get non slip socks, I normally have bare feet. I definitely can't do the one handed one LOLπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

in reply to

Yes Alicia check them out on Amazon, they are like those very thin socks with little sticky balls at the bottom and they come with different designs extremely cuteπŸ€—. If anyone can do the one hand stand, it’s you Alicia πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

Thank you and I will KoKo, I can see how they work, brilliant idea. Think I might have to give it a go now when I get the socks xxπŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ•‰πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ’œπŸ’œ
