So I was told I had tonsillitis about 2 weeks ago and the little pain I did have is gone. Also I did not have a fever. But I did have a little pain when swallowing and nausea. But all of that is gone. Cough is still present too.. and My left tonsil I noticed last year or the year before is a little bigger than the other which already scares me.
But what really scares me is white spots on my tonsils that aren’t going away. On the left one looks more like pus and seems to be clearing up, but on the right one there are little white spots on it that are not pus, just spots and won’t go away at all and no pain, and I googled it and it can be a sign of malignancy and I’m soooooooooooooo scared 😣😣😣😔😔😔😔😔I’m literally so scared that I can’t think of anything else at all, I’m very irritable and just not happy at all because of what this could be.... I hate this.....

Please don’t torture yourself as it’s probably the tail end of the infection. Tonsillitis isn’t nice but will go. Do you gargle are all? Warm salt water might help. If your concerned then try and contact your GP even if you just get a phone call for a chat.
Yes I started gargling with salt water today but the spots are still there it’s like they won’t budge. And should it even still be there at 2 weeks?.. like what if she was wrong about it being tonsillitis?... because I read a story like that on google too.. I’m just really scared as these spots are all that’s there and no pain and it’s Just making me so worried...
My son, who is now 50, use to have this same thing when he had tonsillitis. I can't tell you how many times we went to the Dr. for a throat swab for strep infection. It only came back positive one time. He had this all the way into adult hood. The white spots would take a long time to go away. For some people, it just takes longer.
Thank you for that... but did he have just the white spots on his tonsils and no pain? I only have the white spots on my tonsils now and no pain at all 😔
He had some that ended up never going away...one large one in particular. The Dr. said it actually was a scar from the infections. He finally had his tonsils removed as an adult.
That’s interesting.. I want mine removed because this has me so scared. Mine is like 4-5 little white spots... thank you so much for sharing that with me..
Give them time. Having your tonsils removed as an adult is no walk in the park. My son struggled with so many throat infections...he didn't have a choice.
Hi RyRywifey,
I'm sorry you are feeling so anxious. I see from previous posts on HealthUnlocked that health anxiety has featured quite a bit in your life. I completely understand why you'd be so worried right now. I can't say for sure what is happening with your tonsils, but what I can tell you is that the white spots you see are very common, either as a symptom of tonsillitis or sometimes even as a permanent or semi-permanent thing, after the tonsillitis is treated.
If you are worrying about coronavirus (COVID-19), then you should follow all of the official advice given for a person who suspects they have it. This link will explain what to do.
Do look at this but try not to worry too much. What you are describing sounds much more likely to be the aftermath of tonsillitis. Take care and stay well.
Hi thank you so much, yes I have suffered from health anxiety for a couple years now and this year it’s been at an all time high. I’m not worried that it’s corona, I’m always more worried about the C word as that’s what google has referenced to with the white spots and no pain. Thank you so much for you comforting words. And stay safe and well 💝
Please phone your doctor to get the reassurance you need!
Be well!
Ros
PS Dr Google is not your doctor! It's the worst thing to do. It's like medical students who think they have every disease in the book!
Hi
My friend has this but it's one large, white spot. She was told it could be a stone that had got stuck but as it's not sore or malignant so are leaving it alone xxxx
Please don’t let this upset you , it doesn’t sound like something bad , it could be sinus infection, strep? Give your doctor a call and they could do a strep test and it just sounds like you have a little infection going on gargle with some warm salt water and apple cider vinegar and you sound like you had other symptoms of a cold so most likely that just goes along with it it seems because it was at the same time, but calm your nerves by asking your doctor to take a look at it and see if there’s anything he can give you as far as anabiotic‘s I may just have to work itself out take a deep breath and Know that I am a diagnosed hypochondriac for germs and illnesses and let me just tell you go to the doctor and get peace of mind because this probably just has to work itself out
Thank you so much.. I did get a strep test and it was negative cbd was normal too I guess. That was 2 weeks ago and still these white spots and cough so idk... but thank you so much I’m really trying to keep myself calm because when I get worried like this I make myself nauseous and that makes it worse
I totally understand, I am the one at 3 o’clock in the morning looking at certain things with a flashlight because I either think I’m feeling something or seeing something or even if it’s minor I hyper focus and think of something horrible and I Google. And googling is the worst because I only look at the bad stuff and not the positive stuff, but because you had a cough and all the other things that go along with sinus infections it sure does sound like something like that, it’s a possibility that you might even have tonsil stones which are a little white things lodged in your tonsils and they just kind of push them out with a WaterPik or a Q-tip which I would not advise unless your doctor tells you to, But try gargling with warm salt water because it’s a natural way of getting the bacteria out of your throat
I used to get tonsillitis a lot as a child and at one point (probably my 1st yr in comp) the GP was considering referring me to the hospital with a view to them being removed - from what you are describing and my experience (I also suffer with anxiety so totally get your concerns) I would say it’s the tail end of a bad bout - however, to get reassurance for yourself I would speak to your GP 🤗 x
