Follow-up to the Zooms on low-carb way of eating/keto diet?

For those who came on the recent 2 zooms about this topic, I'm wondering how to keep the momentum going and keep myself on the straight and narrow too. I'm considering a few options eg

Meet (on Zoom) regularly eg once a month to buddy ourselves along

Start a Facebook group

Have a post on here where people can post their good news, ask questions etc

Thoughts and ideas please?

There is a Facebook group on PMR and GCA at facebook.com/groups/PMRpoly... we also have the Gardening group on Facebook facebook.com/groups/6288051.... You could of course have one for general chat. The trouble is a lot of people don’t like Facebook. Perhaps you could find different chat software?

I meant a group just for people with PMR or GCA who want to do low carb or keto.

I joined that Facebook Polymyalgia group years ago but got fed up of reading the same old things every day, people asking the same questions over and over again and never bothering to read old posts first. I used to direct people to the charity website and HealthUnlocked from time to time to get correct and reliable answers but gave up.

As I said you can always add another group and call it the Food Group!!

I didn’t do either Zoom but I’m very interested in being part of a group going forward. Definitely need help and motivation to stay on the straight and narrow! I’m happy with any platform and use Facebook groups a lot but not to everyone’s liking. Thanks for doing this and keep me posted please.

I really enjoyed your Zoom presentation and would appreciate a support group for those of us trying to reverse the effects of pred on our blood sugars. The Zoom was very immediate and the opportunity to ask questions or post comments made it feel very relevant. So I would love that - living on the other side of the English Channel.! The only thing I would not like would be Facebook as I am am desperately trying to get rid of it out of my tech and my life! Thank you for your great efforts! I am nearly a month on a low carb diet and getting used to it now.

Was it recorded, Tangocharlie ? If I remember rightly it didn't record well the first time, but I think you said you would try again. Very interested if so.

I’d be interested in knowing if anyone has low carb recipes and also how to increase fibre without increasing carbs.

There are loads of low carb recipes on the internet - just search on google.

Cabbage. Having a diagnosis of type2 diabetes followed a month later by PMR meant I had to make a drastic change to diet. I cut out the white stuff - potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. Bread was very difficult as OH uses the bread maker and it smells so delicious. Do eat a slice of solid dark rye bread though and limited crispbread . I have found a very helpful book about reversing Type2 Diabetes by Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi has lovely low carb/not no carb recipes.

There is also the NHS lowcarbprogram.com
