I have taken aspirin dayly since I was about 40 I am now 86 in October if I forget to take it I quickly knew. Without it I felt quite lethargic

But my point now is. Now I am on Lixiana 60 mg I was advised I no longer needed aspirin

But after about 18 months decided to try my old friend aspirin again as well as Lixiana as aspirin as a different effect as Lixiana on the blood something to do with sticky platelets in the blood

And I must say feeling better,l don’t mention this to doctors as they don’t seam to like or appreciate aspirin, they all bang on about causing bleeding, but I monitor it and carful to take with

Food. I have been diagnosed with AF but it is not very active as I monitor on my watch

Wat does anyone else think am I bonkers arrogant or what?🍀 but what rings in my ears WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT..

🥲🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Edoxaban (Lixiana) and aspirin are used as a dual therapy in some things so it isn't that way out, You do need to be aware of the increased potential for bleeds though. But if you feel better on the aspirin - there is no real reason for the doc to get uptight about it.

Lixiana is an anticoagulant - like warfarin used to be used for, but has a different action. The aspirin was being used to reduce clotting, it makes the platelet cells in the blood less sticky so they don't stick together as much.

What dose of aspirin do you take daily?

The benefits and risks of a medicine can only be calculated for large groups of people, not individuals. You have, effectively, carried out a 46-year long experiment upon yourself. That's called a "sample of one" in statistics. It tells us nothing about how others might fare if they did the same thing.

Increasingly, doctors are prescribing medicines to many (statins are a good example) in the expectation that a few of them will benefit, the vast majority will not, and only very rarely will someone suffer serious harm. Daily aspirin is only recommended for those with a prior history of circulatory problems, where the balance of risk is strongly in their favour.

Your decisions have stood you in good stead so far. It might not work well for everyone though. As someone who has hurt their digestive system, I don’t recommend it.🍀

I appreciate that ,as one of t,he best saying on here is no one key fits all Lockes. Definitely my favourite, but another that springs to mind is ‘suck it and see, but be careful ‘

I aways think it’s a shame doctors don’t get more feedback,
