Icing and stretching are easy measures to take at home.
Have you spoken to the ankle team? They may have tricks. Were you non-weight-bearing for long post op? That seems to be associated with developing plantar fasciitis and a stretching regime is thought to be helpful BEFORE surgery (I know, too late ...)
A very strange and extreme remedy was performed on me years ago and p f has not recurred. I was looking for a bunion doc. Was interviewing a podiatrist. As an aside, he asked if I had PF. He asked if he could fix it and told me how. He then stabbed an empty hypo into the spot in my heel where a sac of fluid develops w p f. I screamed. He withdrew a clear yellowish liquid. Did the same on the other foot. Yelled again. No recovery time and no more p f. But I’m sure the other patients in the office were freaked out by the screaming.
Yes, I've had it - it's not nice! Stretching the calf, rolling on a plastic bottle with iced water are said to help. I found a heel support , a soft one, very helpful to take the pressure off the sore part.
hi there… I just developed PF ( apparently) two weeks ago … it seems to be slightly easing but basically I’m hobbling, with use of a stick, as can’t put weight through it. Can last up to a year?! No, not possible I’m afraid… I’ve thought I’ll investigate asking for an injection if it doesn’t improve soon. Good luck to you
I’ve had my latest bout (but only 3 in about 22 years) for past 3 months.mi sprained my ankle badly & put all my weight on the other foot to walk. I am under the care of a hospital podiatrist for other issues & she raised the heel of my insoles by about a quarter of an inch to reduce the pressure on my heel. I think I’ve seen similar wedges for sale online. Otherwise there’s exercise you need to do to stretch it. If you Google it you will find them. One is rolling a ball, ir rolling pin, one is standing on a step with front of foot only & going up & down &, whoops, brain fog, there are 1 or two more. The podiatrist told me to do them on the phone as mine was at its worst over Christmas & new year & I couldn’t get a F2F appointment with her. I did have a steroid injection for one of the bouts…sadly, for me it only lasted a week, then bad again (but I wasn’t told to do the exercises & they could have helped I think). I also have a damaged Achilles’ tendon, so am having problems getting through this boot of PF.
I had plantar fasciitis in both feet well before PMR. The only thing that cured it was wearing a Straussberg Sock at night. Then when I get up I wear crocs. It does take awhile to heal. I kept walking on it which made it worse until my brother told me about the sock. Available online.
