I’m just going through my last lot of blood results..
ESR 1mm/hr
Neutrophils 8.10 (2.1 - 7.4)
Lymphocyte count 0.98 (1 - 3.6)
Sodium 128 (should be 135+).
Are these anything to be concerned about? My GP wasn’t worried - but just said he’ll recheck the sodium in December 🤔
(Apparently I carry an MGUS protein - which needs to be checked annually, the same as my high serum ferritin level). I am a carrier for haemochromotosis.
I can always rely on you wise ones.

I must admit, neither do I but I am told everyone else does. What about Smoked, cured, salted or canned meat, fish or poultry including bacon, cold cuts, ham, frankfurters, sausage, sardines, caviar and anchovies?
I do sound miss goody two shoes, and I’m certainly never that, but we never eat anything processed in the frankfurters/tinned meat line etc, although we have lots of tinned tuna, sardines and eat a fair bit of smoked mackerel.
I guess if we took notice of every single article about what’s good and bad for you then we’d never eat anything would we. Ha
Ah - then visit me! There is a traditional pizza in Italy made without cheese and our pizzeria in the village will add anything you like to it - what my daughter has when she's here, she's vegan. Sometimes she takes her vegan stuff to add to it.
I totally get what you’re saying, HeronNS, but I guess I’ve always kept salt and salty things to an absolute minimum, thinking that salt has a tendency to increase your blood pressure. You can’t win, can you🙄
I've written elsewhere in the forum about my experience with an apparent salt deficiency, so won't repeat whole story here, but I was like you, keeping my salt intake to a minimum. When I started pred one thing I did was eliminate a lot of prepared foods, like pizza, and after a couple of years I guess this led to my not taking in enough salt to maintain health. I used an online tool to count my salt intake, overestimating when in doubt, and was only getting about 900 mg daily. Morning headaches, which I think was the last and most debilitating of my salt deficiency symptoms, certainly the most obvious, disappeared when I started to salt my food. They actually return if I don't, as I've recently discovered. As I may be developing a heart issue (investigations proceeding very slowly so they can't be too serious or I'd be dead by now) I thought I'd cut the salt somewhat, but.... guess what? Morning headaches! And elevated blood pressure! So there has to be a happy medium somewhere. Salt is necessary for life.
