I went for my blood test results earlier this week mostly good - ESR 10, hba1c 38, cholesterol 3.9 but my kidney function has gone down and I have to have a retest in a couple of weeks. Fortunately the urine test showed no protein in my urine but I am a bit worried that I may be on the road to CKD. I have my fingers crossed for my next blood test but 8 have been worrying about it.
Anyway, on a more cheerful note I did have a lovely Christmas with some great presents. Probably had too many carbs to eat yesterday but after all it is only one day.

Your cholesterol is enviable! I don't know much about the kidney function, but I guess all our diets have had some changes these few days, which may make a difference.
Glad you had a good day yesterday and try not to worry too much.
I know I had drunk a lot more . My blood tests have usually been in the morning and this was 4pm after I had rushed back from work. Wearing a mask for over 5 hours I had drunk a lot more as the mask makes me thirsty. I hope the next blood test which is in the morning on my day off is better.
Being well hydrated usually improves it. Was your creatinine up too? That is a tad low for your age (you are younger than me ) But no point worrying until there is something to worry about.
Yes my creatinine was up as well. Still if I do have CKD I hope it will not worsen too fast. I did see a kidney specialist a couple of years ago due to protein in my urine. He did loads of blood tests and an ultrasound and then after the results discharged me. He said I would probably always have protein in my urine so was surprised that there wasn’t any on Wednesday. Oh well, we will wait and see what the next blood test shows
I was going to ask what your Creatinine & GFR were but see you have now replied, more fluids, mines creeping down again so have upped my fluid intake, see what the next test show & hopefully it’ll have settled!
Yes, l got mine back to Normal Levels but have had two lower results, GP is monitoring it & my Rheumy Nurse said to drink more fluids, l thought it might be the MTX but hopefully it’ll pick up again 🙏🏼
Hi koalajane, I have CKD at stage 3 and my egfr usually fluctuates between 41(lowest) and 52(highest), not good I know when you consider that normal is between 90-120!! I try not to worry, as the docs don't seem to, and I've been given nothing for it so I just carry on as normal. Regarding cholesterol though, funnily enough I got a text a couple of days before Christmas from my doctor to say my level was considerably raised since my previous normal result... I don't have the figures yet, but she's suggesting reducing dairy and being more active, and also having a fasting blood test to investigate further. I thought, b.....y hell, there's always something!! I'm going to stop having kefir each morning to see if that makes a difference as I've been on it this past month which makes me wonder. And stop the chocolate cookies too I think... I was having one each night with a cuppa, don't want blood sugars back up either. 😒 I'm a bit fed up!
Thanks for that, I am waiting to see what the next blood test on the 5th January says. The kidney doctor I saw a couple of years ago due to protein in my urine discharged me and now I don’t seem to have protein in urine! I agree with you the number of times my blood tests show something and then the next one doesn’t show anything being high or low but normal. All strange. How often do you have your bloods tested. I was having mine done 6monthly but don’t know if I will have to have my eGFR done more often.
I am on statins but eat seeds and nuts and lots of healthy food
I think many of your results are brill. I'd be pleased with a cholesterol result like yours, however I don't have to take Statins or BP meds, so not complaining.
