A lockdown New Year will be no different from the usual in this house: bed before midnight but a glass of prosecco, all being well.
And we have started our usual New Year's Eve with the Freddie Frinton German cult programme! He came from the same place as my husband so we do have a soft spot. I first saw it 38 years ago having come home after daughter No 2 arrived - and we still laugh ...
Happy New Year to you & your family. I think of you near the Dolomites. Thanks for all your expertise, help & advice. Here’s to all humans having a better New Year. xxx
Worked for me....... and I watch it as well from when you first told me. As usual since I hit 75 and Joan was 84 we were always fast asleep by midnight. 2021 will be no different except Joan is no longer at home. I will miss the Vienna New years day concert, flipping Covid.
Don't despair! It will happen: "Also in 2021, despite coronavirus: the Vienna Philharmonic is giving its New Year's Concert in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. The whole world looks on and joins in the celebrations of the first day of the new year."
You're one of a few shining stars here that have lit up my path and shown me the way. Have the evening you wish for and a happy, healthy and.....vaccinated! New Year. With live and thanks.
Prosecco is on the menu here tonight as well, along with bbq cheeseburgers and fondant potatoes (a NYE treat). Quite different from how we usually celebrate NYE (get dressed up, dancing, singing)....however we can still do that at home too!
Love the clip, what a fun tradition. Wishing you and yours good health, peace and laughter in 2021.
We watched it for a few years. It was a great way to start a party on New Year's Eve. Now I stand at the window at midnight and watch the fireworks - only a few, quiet ones, this year. D sleeps through it!
The special moments shared over many years still work their magic. Warm wishes to you and your family. Keep your window open a crack so that the many wishes from all over the world can enter your flat and be with you both. Take care Jen.
Son (age 46) spent ages last night telling us about this fantastic TV film he'd seen called Dinner for One. He was most impressed that we knew all about it. Good start to New Year I think when he realises his "oldies" do know stuff ............. !!!!!!!
No - I meant how had he come across it? I lived in Germany for years, you struggle to avoid it on TV on NYE and everything can be found on YouTube which is what I used for the link.
He was just on You Tube and came across it apparently. He doesn't seem to know how (or indeed why). I knew that Masters he got at University would stand him in good stead one day!!!!!
We were mystified when we were first in Germany - many years ago now - as everyone assumed that as we were English we must know it and we didn't. But , once we'd seen it, it quickly became part of our New Year as well.
