Many of you have posted such wonderful thoughts and hopes for the coming year.
Here in my part of Canada, we are wondering if we will survive it.
Tuesday started snowing, by the time it was done Wednesday (New Years Day) we had 18 inches of new snow to add to that already here. Our driveway is 150 ft long, No-one available to plow. Lots of shoveling, to say the least. Hubby had hip replacement recently and couldn't help. As if that was not enough power went off Tuesday at 1pm, and was not back till Wed 3pm.. So much heavy snow many trees down on the power lines. Trying to keep the pugs warm!
So if I thought I had fatigue from tapering (GCA), you should see me tonight.
Anyway, Happy New Year to all.............a bit of humbug thrown in LOL

Oh wow pugrescue, that is a huge problem. I would be tempted to employ someone for my drive at least.
My daughter’s are contending with bad air and the ever present threat of the out of control bushfire in NSW and others are facing floods and mudslides. Happy New Year must seem incongruous to them too.
Oh no! You could lose those pugs in snow that deep!
Take care of yourself , try and rest and keep warm. I'm so glad we don't get snows like that here , just a power cut on Christmas Day was bad enough but at least it was warm for Winter in Wales.
Certainly not the start to 2020 you would have wanted , hugs and I hope you get a thaw soon xxx
You have my sympathy - we had something similar just over a month ago and have only just got any trains back although roads were back to normal after a week. Parts of our village had no electricity for a week as they couldn't get to them with generators but almost everyone here has a woodburning stove/oven just in case - even us. The biggest problem was the wet snow on trees here - they used the helicopters to blow the branches clear along the main road! Luckily we can pay our Hausmeister to clear the snow ...
Meanwhile in my part of Canada the ground isn't even completely frozen yet, and we've had temperatures above freezing several consecutive days. Not healthy - too many pests migrating north and now surviving winter. But it does make getting out and walking much more pleasant.
I remember the winter we spent in Ottawa, early 1970s, when there was record breaking snow. My brother in law visited and thought the streets were lined with bungalows built several feet above the street level. He didn't realize that most houses had snow virtually covering their first storey. We were in an apartment, so no shovelling, but the car we'd bought in Victoria the year before didn't like winter!
I was going to put a photo up yesterday that I took on New Year's Eve , of a Calendula!!
It was a plant that had clearly spread through seed from someone's garden into a spot between some stones in the path wall. The plant must have grown late in the summer season and having had about a week of unseasonably warm weather for North Wales after a mini cold snap the flower buds had bloomed , perfect fresh summer flowers in December !!!
I think I would settle for pussy willows right now. They are predicting more snow the next few days here. At least it is not really cold, only just below freezing, thus the heavy snow. Has to get better soon!
Gosh...that sounds awful. I’ve live in most of the provinces in Canada and experienced similar weather in northern New Brunswick. Where are you located?
Here in southern Ontario we just got snow the day before New Years.
Hope the weather in your area settles so you and hubby can get some rest.
