I just wanted to say that approximately 3wks ago, yogabonnie very kindly offered some free zoom yoga classes for anyone who was interested. I must admit that initially I thought it would probably be well beyond my capabilities but I'd always wanted to have a go and try it, so in what was perhaps a moment of madness, I put my name forward and agreed to join in.
As well as PMR, I have osteoporosis (as do many of us here) and the yoga class is designed to strengthen our core, muscles and bones and generally improve our balance and bone health.
I could never have imagined how much I'd enjoy it or how invigorated and energised I'd feel during the class. Yogabonnie is so lovely and explains things clearly, demonstrating the poses slowly and making it fun as we go along. The relaxation at the end is sublime and I genuinely feel uplifted rather than exhausted at the end. I work at my own level and feel very comfortable and safe, and just as importantly........I'm trying something new!😃
Thankyou so much yogabonnie. See you next week. 😃

I've taken part as well - I stop my video feed during the exercises and mute myself because you'd otherwise see (and hear) me struggling with my faulty knee 🤣 but I too have been astonished how many of the exercises I actually can do, and how well I feel afterwards. I used to do tai chi but, again, the knee has put paid to that for now. But the yoga in these classes has been well within my reach. She's doing one more session, next Thursday. Highly recommended.
It's been such a positive revelation to find out that I can actually do something that I thought was beyond my reach at the present time (for me that's been the notion that I'm not able to resume any form of worthwhile physical exercise).... but the yoga has thrown that theory right out of the window and is as gentle or robust as you want to make it. I found it very easy to judge when I needed to ease up a bit, and it's also been really nice to see some of the ladies for real. Today has been a good day for me. I'm sure for some of our community it won't have been such a good day, but I will have bad days again too......as surely as you will also have good days again.
Yes - I'm very grateful to Bonnie for offering this class. It was lovely to see some of you and put faces to some familiar and respected names . But most of all, it gave me the confidence to get down on the floor - since pmr I'm terrified I'll never get up again, but I did (having got stuck a couple of times in the garden in the summer ). Really good session, highly recommended. Inspiring to think that I can actually do some yoga, after 9 months of thinking that ship had sailed.
If you message yogabonnie, she'll email you the link. I'm so sorry but I don't have a laptop or iPad and I can't get my phone to send you the link. Hope that helps.
Yes, I endorse all the positive comments from you Kendrew! I've been a yoga fan for a few years now and it is so good for us. Since getting the Pmr I've not been able to do most of my classes, but Bonnie's class was so nice and gentle. It was lovely to see some of the faces of the familiar names too!
I too enjoyed the yoga. I’ve been doing Pilates since March when an Agility friend who is also a Pilates teacher to all her classes online. Before diagnosis I’d collapse in tears with pain but since being on pred it is of course far better. I’ve been reassured by the many similarities between what I do in Pilates with what @yogabonnie has us doing.
I also did a five or six week online tai chi beginners course. We were sent the video recordings after the live sessions so I can revisit the lessons anytime. TBH I don’t do so much but that’s down to my lack of self motivation/discipline.
I’ve also managed to start agility training again but I think it will be some time before I can compete. I’m also alert now following some recent posts here that I may start feeling tired as I reduce the pred further. (Currently tapering to 8mg)
