It has not been an easy week. In fact at times I have despaired. PALS ladies at both Yeovil and Hillingdon have done all they could to help. If it wasn't for the PALS lady at Yeovil I still would not know he is coming home tomorrow. This morning I was really down. Then the PALS lady rang me this afternoon. Let's hope nothing goes wrong now.

Update 4
Oh Prunus, what a week you’ve had, thank goodness for the PALS Ladies.
Fingers Crossed for tomorrow & hope you’re feeling as best you can with all this stress & strain.
Good Luck 🍀 for tomorrow
MrsN 🌷
Thanks for that. Don't know what is going on OH has his phone off. No-one has rung me - only know what I was told yesterday. It is now 11o'clock.
Ring the ward if you can. At least ask them to tell him to put phone on. 🌻
At 11.35 I finally heard from him!!! But the Ward have never taken the trouble to tell me he is on his way. Hillingdon have always given me a quick call and that is a fraction of the distance.
Brilliant though. I was wondering if he was travelling so glad he got through to you eventually.
At last - hope it all goes well!
Keeping my fingers crossed. If you can rest for a few hours now for tomorrow please do!🌻👍
Thanks for that.
Fingers crossed 🤞
Just tried to ring my PALS lady in Yeovil but she must be away from the office - anyway I've left a message. It's now about 11.15am and noone has told me anything.
Remember PALS - in case you need to use them in the future.
Hope all goes well tomorrow - all the ambulance workers I have ever met have been absolutely caring, not one 'wrong un' among them.
You should have met the driver I had back from having my pacemaker done! Swooping in and out of the lorry traffic and could only drive with accelerator and brake! Told him a few home truths!! Wouldn't last long in the NHS in the UK...
Forgot about Italian drivers.............many moons ago when on holiday in Italy, I just stood and stared.................
The one going down was absolutely fantastic - told me to say if he wasn't driving well, was I OK with travelling backwards. The other numpty obvious wanted to be driving on blue lights - without the people in the back being able to work on the patient...
Never risk standing on a zebra with them!
You get them occasionally as bus drivers as well as cab drivers and I cannot wait to get out.
I'm no longer a real English woman!! What are PALS?
It stands for Patient Advisory Liaison Service. They do what their name suggests. They know all about the workings of the hospital - which we don't. So their help is invaluable.
Wow! Don't think we have anything like that in Germany!
Are you anywhere near the Bodensee?
Believe it or not, here in northern Italy I am closer to Bodensee than Constance. It's 4 hours and 328 km for me, It is over 5 1/2 hours and 600km for her!! Germany is a big country!
I can believe that. I used to love swimming in the Bodensee. With her calling herself Constance I wondered if she lived near it.
Really happy to hear PALS have been able to help out and that hubby is on his way back!! Make sure you take it easy because now you will be starting to visit him at least once a day and it's hard work. Love YBB
Can't speak too highly about either PALS lady. This morning though I have heard nothing so am trying to take my mind off the matter by replying to all you dear people. They are bringing him straight home I believe. I don't think Hillingdon have been helpful. Maybe we suffer from being so close to Heathrow.
Well done for all your heroic efforts. I echo all the sentiments about hoping it all goes smoothly and the strain begins to lift and you are able to rest easy.🌻🌼
It's still stressful at the moment not knowing.
Prunus, when he gets home, make sure you get a call into your GP and ask him to make a home visit asap as your husband has just come from Yeovil by ambulance and you really need his support today.............do not let the receptionist put you off.........insist and if they won't let you speak to your GP. immediately ask for the Practice Manager. The last thing most GPs want is a complaint.
Hope he is home soon and safely in bed with a cuppa and you with a big 😊
Thanks for that. We have a lovely Community Matron and I'm planning to contact her once he is here.
Definitely agree with this advice. You need to get support asap.
If he refuses to come out he really needs to be reported as your husband isnt in a position to go to him at the moment. If you are worried in anyway you can call 111 and see what they say.
Did hubby get back.ok? Hope you are both doing well
I have just done a post. It is the first time today I have had a minute. He was so tired last night I think he had got past being able to get to bed without help. It is a long journey even when you are well. Thanks for all your help.
