Went back to see nurse at surgery. Saw a really officious one! UTI still present, third lot of antibiotics that didn't clear it previously!!!! Have scan this afternoon on stomach.
However my streaming eye is really causing me grief and is really light sensitive. It is like I am continuously crying from just one eye! The eye is slightly itchy, but forehead and Scalp are starting to itch now. Officious nurse has reissued drops that didn't work previously and wouldn't send a swab (as suggested by nurse I saw last week) until I have given drops another seven days. I am wondering whether to try antihistamine? Any reason why I shouldn't? Suggestions welcome.

I would seek out a good optometrist and ask their advice. Or A&E as a last resort for the moment.
The nurse is ignoring a symptom that has been there for some time - repeating abx that have not cleared a UTI is poor practice and the streaming painful eye needs to be examined properly.
You may have ‘dry eye’. I know that sounds like a contradiction! When your eye is streaming. However tears are made up of various constituents, water, lipids and mucous. Your eye may try to compensate and overproduce poor quality tears to compensate.
Could be due to pred, AI illness, or your age, as tear production/quality reduces with age.
Itchy around eye and forehead.....????shingles????
I have a really mild version of what you describe with your eyes. They just leak away sometimes, particularly one of them. My eyelids itch unendurably but only occasionally, my forehead and around the eyes too, but seldom.I use Thealoz Duo ( on prescription) because dry eyes is all that has ever been diagnosed. One eye has a tendency to be blood shot too.
The light sensitivity is something I had prior to diagnosis and I felt that it was PMR related. Have you had your eyes thoroughly checked for everything possible, I can’t remember? I am lucky in that my optician has all the equipment. I paid to have all the tests 3 times last year, glaucoma, peripheral vision, cataracts, back of the eye etc. because I have low level anxiety about all things eyes and they happily take my money.
Can’t your doctor over -ride the officious nurse?
I expect these symptoms will get worse when the pollen count rises. I don’t think we have contraindications about antihistamines, but check.
I think that my symptoms are probably to do with a compromised immune system, allergies etc.
Good luck with sorting the misery of your UTIs. I’ve had that too. Semi solved by oestrogen cream, helping everything to operate as it should.
These side issues are almost worse than the central disease. Hugs Marilyn! X
I haven't had a weepy eye, but I have recurring blepharitis in my left eye. I had a thorough check up with my optometrist and there was no serious problem. I thought it had finally gone but I woke again with the soreness and redness this morning. I have had a few hay fever symptoms so maybe there is some connection, in which case an anti-histamine might help. I use Bio True eye wipes, Hyco San Dual eye drops and an Optase moist heat mask which is heated up in the microwave. I don't know if any of these actually improve the condition, but they are all very soothing.
