Dry Eyes
This is a good article:
allaboutvision.com/conditio...
It mentions DILUTED baby shampoo. So does this:
Hi,
Kate Hilbert recommended it to me early days- she was advised by her specialist for blepharitis problem she had. Worked for me!
However, views may have changed!
Baby shampoo is for blepharitis as had been said which affects the eyelid skin, not the actual eyes that are dry. I’ve got very poor tear film now so I use a thicker lubricating drop at night which has eased the daytime irritation when I use the watery sort of needed. No way would I put baby shampoo IN my eyes especially with dry eyes, even diluted! Its lack of suitability was demonstrated when I could no longer use it for by toddler years ago because it flared up her eczema. To get rid of it I used it to clean the bath; it was great at removing the oils used for her skin from the side of the bath. There’s nothing gentle about it.
Wasn't there a problem with hair falling out with Johnson's?
😮 I don’t know. My daughter was bald as a coot until she was about 2 so never saw that. Perhaps that was the reason??
There was a big stishy about it at the time and it was ages ago- can't remember when mind you.
But there has been another this millenium - in 2011 reports showed it contained a couple of ingredients listed as potential carcinogens: formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane. The levels are very low and as you know - the devil is in the dose. Plus formaldehyde is potentially carcinogenic when inhaled in large amounts. But it caused a panic...
My ophthalmologist offers an ( expensive) eyecleaning service for Blepharitis, with follow-ups if it is chronic. I have Thealoz Duo, preservative free, eyedrops for dry eyes, they are the best drops so far. If you are in the U.K. you can get them on prescription. The baby shampoo remedy has been recommended since my children were little, I reckon it works.
I’ve suffered from chronic dry eyes for years— including corneal abrasions (torn cornea), and blepharitis. Your doctor may have seen clogged ducts along your lash line, which prevents your eyes from properly lubricating themselves. I love (and use daily) premoistened eye scrubs. They gently clean and scrub eyes, without irritation. I do frequent warm (as hot as possible without burning) compresses (warm wet washcloth). I use preservative free eye drops, both regular and gel. There is a night time ointment too; however, I find it annoying.
These are my favorite.
Thank you - I also use non preservative free and warm compresses. Is there a brand name for premoistened eye scrub.? Yes, I also found the gel annoying
I usually find a solution of 1/12 teaspoon of salt in l cup of boiling water ,once cooled down, always seems to relieve problems with my eyes.l just bathe them with Cotton wool pads and it usually works for me.l would not like to try baby shampoo, even though it is obviously suitable for babies if some should get into their eyes, but l would not want to do that deliberately.
