Never ending rash!!

I had shingles in June - which lasted for a few months rather than the normal 6 weeks!! In September I went to my gp ( all the Nhs websites said no need to go to gp to be diagnosed as nothing they can prescribe) as the rash was going nowhere. I also had developed different types of rashes elsewhere - torso, legs, arms etc. GP said she I definitely still had shingles and thought the ones on my legs were bites!!! Had I been in long grass etc... well I was just back from a break in Norfolk so believed her foolishly. Been back since as spots not setting any better so had blood test ( all fine). Was prescribed a steroid cream and itch relief cream plus continue with antihistamine daily.

I just wanted to ask is anyone else suffering with undiagnosed spots that won’t go away?

Poor you. Can’t they refer you to a Dermatologist?

I would be thinking compromised immunity and definitely shingles related. My mum had pain from the site of her shingles attack for many months.

Hello, does it feel like shingles now? There are other conditions that can cause blister like rashes. What are the rashes actually like? On what grounds did the leg ones look like bites?

The spots are a variety of shapes and sizes - some dry, some extremely itchy!!! I have googled images but they do not resemble anything on the internet. I have been on pared since last October - so over a year- and I know one of the side effects of the tablets is rash/spots/shingles. Just wondered if after all this time it could be a side effect started by the shingles. Getting on my nerves now lol

Time the NHS got up to date - GPs can prescribe antiviral medications in the first 24-48 hours which reduce the severity and duration of the illness. And that is particularly important when we are on pred.

But if they look different from each other - that doesn't sound like only shingles. And shingles tends to manifest in particular places, tracking the nerve endings the virus favours.

It’s definitely not shingles any longer.

Thanks for your reply.

My friend has and after mountains of lotions and potions she finally saw a dermatologist who diagnosed warts! They itched like mad - she used to scratch until she bled - all day every day - they froze them off and gave her a course of steroids, she doesn't have have an AI. I had one itchy spot on my face and at one of my review appts with dermie he said it's a wart and froze it off there and then - all itchies gone now.....
