Got special wash from GP for inflamed hair follicles on legs and arms

I think new cream or stripping willow for weaving in a friend’s field caused initial irritation

Just looked up willow bark supplement and one of the side effects is itching or hives - so if it can be caused by a supplement it would certainly appear that ‘au naturelle’ you are likely to get same or worse problem.

If you help your friend again - cover up!

I used to wear 3/4 summer trousers. Everything would nip and slash so I always tuck. My long walking trousers in my boots. Hope it feels better soon!

I was all tucked in so may be new cream is culprit

What cream? And where did you apply it?

It was a new Avon body lotion (different perfume) and I do sometimes have problems with Avon products. I will stick to Aveeno from now on. I put it on my arms and legs exactly where the rash is so it is my prime suspect now - so difficult to think back on these things!

Yes it is, must admit I could never use Avon lipsticks - but that was a long time ago!

Sometimes the smallest change in the ingredients can cause a problem.

My shoulders/top of arms are a bit “rashy” at the moment and I think it’s due to a different brand of Ibruprofen gel I use for my arthritis - but like you not 100% sure!

Hope it clears up soon - I guess you have to stop using that brand but then you may have pain from arthritis. I know this rash has driven me crazy especially at night.

I’ve learned something new today. What did you weave? It sounds lyrical.

My friend makes willow towers for her plants to climb

As a willow weaver myself as part of my Art Profession I know that it actually has anti-inflammatory properties and the chemicals in willow if not being used specifically for your skin or health condition can cause allergy reactions , intolerances or interact with other medical creams or lotions you are prescribed.

"Willow bark contains a chemical active ingredient called salicin, which the body converts into salicylic acid (C7H6O3) — a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory agent that is the precursor to aspirin. In the 1920s, chemists learned how to extract salicylic acid from willow bark to reduce pain and fever."

Thanks for writing in the facts , I knew it what I wanted to say but sat about to write it and got complete brain fog in spelling it , I hoped you'd be up online soon to add the facts. xx

Google and copy and paste is very useful for saving a lot of typing about things I know anyway ;)
