Tip of tongue red and sore

Any thoughts on what might cause or cure this please? I have Large vessel GCA on prednisone and Tocilizumab infusions aspirin citalopram and amlodipine but have been for months and this is only for about last 6 weeks.

My guess is that one of your meds is causing this. It sounds unpleasant. I wonder if a gargle with cool boiled, salted, water might give some relief and protection. The doctor/ Pharmacist might be adle to prescribe/ suggest a remedy.

Thank you good idea. Pharmacist suggested anti histamine but it didn't help will try your idea.😊

I had the same tip of tongue problem and it was thrush caused by oral pred. Bought over counter meds but had to have prescription to resolve. (Without boring, it was a recurring prob and so I cutout all processed sugar and wow what a difference to weight and wellbeing).

Thank you. I've had a swab and not thrush. I will try reducing sugar though!

I too am on Pred and Actemra and have GCA. I use Listerine mouth wash daily, however, have had mouth sores come up while I have been sick. I mixed peroxide 50/50 with water as a mouth wash several times a day and the problem goes away in a few days. I try to gargle and swish for a couple of minutes each time to make sure it stays in there for as long as possible. Not the most pleasant mouth wash but very effective for me. I am not sure if that will work for you but a quick easy try.
