Sore and swollen tongue
Would suggest it all part of your oral thrush…..have you had treatment for it? Need to speak to doctor/pharmacist and get something stronger probably.
As DorsetLady says this is probably part n parcel of Oral Thrush, you may need to have it swabbed & possibly a systemic medication as well. I had persistent thrush oral following Chemo & l can’t tell you how many treatments l had, l ended up with a 6week course of tablets in the end.
Make sure you change you toothbrush regularly & use a mild toothpaste. Also follow all your Meds with Live Yogurt particularly your Pred.
Hope you can get it sorted soon.

Tongue pain can be part of GCA symptoms. Without reading all of your posts it was hard for me to find your current diagnosis, that’s why it is helpful to put key info in your profile. I agree with the others though it is probably a manifestation of thrush that can be a devil to get rid of. Throw out and replace your toothbrush or toothbrush heads.
Hi, When I was first diagnosed with GCA I started to get oral thrush a lot, my tongue was very sore and covered in white patches, my doc prescribed nystatin oral liquid, I had to use the drops 3-4 times a day. I had this quite a lot over several months but eventually it calmed down. Not sure if it was when I cut down on pred or it just improved with time.
Hope you get better soon.

Thank you very much.did that work,I've had that liquid twice.
Well it took quite a while, several courses of prescribed liquid, plus I used to eat a lot of plain live yoghurt, which really helped. Keep away from anything containing sugar. If I feel it’s coming on now I start eating the yoghurt, keep it on your tongue for a few seconds, not only does it cool the tongue down but also helps, also very gently try to brush the patches off, go easy though as it can be very painful and may bleed.Hope it gets better soon.
