Hello everyone! Yesterday I woke up with a rash on the lower inside of my arm. At first we thought it was a bug bite. A few hours later, in the same spot on my other arm, the same type of rash appeared. Later in the day, I found the same rash but this time it was on my upper arm and on both sides. We no longer suspect it is a bug bite. The rash is somewhat raised and it does not itch. Does this look like a Lupus type rash? Feedback is appreciated!
Autoimmune rash?: Hello everyone! Yesterday I woke... - PMRGCAuk
Autoimmune rash?
Michele, look up ringworm symptoms/images and see if the description matches. It looks very similar to the ringworm that my hubby experienced a couple of years ago. It occurred soon after his immune system had been compromised due to pleurisy and pneumonia. Like your’s, it also didn’t itch. Then get it checked out by your doctor tomorrow.
I will check it out. Thank you.
Hi Michelle.
Do the spots look scaly? The one in your photo looks like the ones on my arms and legs. The first spot appeared in the same place as yours. I showed them to my rheumy nurse last week who brought in my rheumy to have a look. I mentioned that the spots reminded me of the Pityriasis Rosea I had 10 years ago, so the rheumy aid it could be caused by a viral infection. She said she'd seen an increase in odd viral infections of late.
That said, it seems that nobody knows really what causes Pityriasis Rosea - if viral, the pathogen has never been isolated - and I see that some docs think it could be an autoimmune condition (couldn't find a citation...). Certainly, mine happened not long before a bout of Alopecia Areata, so it could well be that the rash you and I have has something to do with a broken immune system.
Urgent Care thinks it’s ringworm thanks to a compromised immune system😞
If you think it could be a discoid lupus rash you would be better asking over on the lupus forum:
I can't find any images of discoid lupus rash that aren't really quite late and severe. This article does seem to suggest that what you describe would fit - down to it not itching.

But then - it could be a lot of things! Doctor time I think!
Urgent care said it’s ringworm. Time will tell!
Hello again, Michele, and well done for getting it investigated quickly. Hopefully, you have been prescribed the appropriate tube of cream to treat it in which case, if my hubby’s experience is anything to go by, it will soon resolve. Good luck!
I have a prescription for a cream and a 1 pill dose of a heavy duty anti fungal med...can’t recall the name. Many thanks!
