Matalic taste

Been on steroids since March and over the last few days I've started to get a matalic taste in my mouth and can smell chemical smells? I lost my smell and taste about ten weeks ago the doctors say it was a cold virus that caused the loss, may or may not come back. 😟

I haven't had metallic taste in my mouth except caused by a drug a long time ago which was not steroids. Hope you get it back. I would seek a referral to a specialist about this.

my husband had a metalic taste in his mouth for about a year and a half. He had loads of tests but they never found anything. Its gone now. This might mot be that helpful I know but just wanted to say that it wasn't and didn't develop onto anything serious.

Good rainy morning zellamze. Yes I often get a metallic taste since taking steroids not all the time but comes and goes. Last for couple days each time. Ughh. Keep well xxxx E 💐

Hi Zellamze ! I too have the metallic taste and can often smell a rather horrible

Chemical smell.. Fortunately it comes and goes and I never had it before I started on pred so I have just assumed it's one of the side effects.

Zellamze, although it isn't something I experienced whilst on steroids, unfortunately, as you have found, it is a possible side effect among the many listed.

I too had that metallic taste now and again but since reducing steroids l haven't had it for a while Alice

I don't know if it is connected with steroids, but I do know that menopause has cause me to smell chemical smells....(I haven't looked, you're probably not female!).

....I still get it now and again. There is a cleaning product that people are using that really bothers me....I do not know which one, or element of the product is causing the problem....I sometimes have to leave the premises it is so overwhelming.
