Good evening, I'm 57 always been fit and healthy and in the last few weeks I've been suffering pudendal nerve pain. The doctor for some reason sent me for a pelvic x-ray (all ok) and will also be sending me for an ultrasound. However, in the meantime I'm trying to do my regular yoga and to not do things that will irritate it. I have a desk job but I am retiring soon so won't be sitting down for 8 hours a day. I have found some natural relief in nettle balm. I do not take pharma medications.I'm going to return to acupuncture as that's previously helped me. I spoke to a chiropractor last week too.
Can Pudendal nerve issues be temporary or permanent? I have no idea why it suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Any tips, recommendations?

Hello, sorry to hear about your pain. Pelvic pain can suddenly develop out of the blue, sometimes there‘s an obvious cause such as an accident, a surgical procedure leaving scar damage - Even from a long time ago - to name just a couple. Otherwise it’s unlikely that x.rays etc. will reveal anything significant. Damage of the pudendal nerve is only one explanation for pelvic pain
Acupuncture may be helpful, gentle sport like yoga, finding a cushion that suits you for sitting but reducing sitting if possible. I would try and find a specialist physiotherapist who might well help to find trigger points and release them. They often know more than doctors!
Thank you for your reply. I am looking for a physio at the moment, I have seen a chiropractor and acupuncturist but do hope that the GP can refer me to a specialist who can assist further.
Hi ,really sorry to hear that you now have PNE as its really a sore and uncomfortable thing to have, I have two questions. 1. Nettle balm do you rub this onto the perineum.
I rub, the nettle balm in to my hip and groin area not perineum, however as it's so natural I think it would be ok. I also drink nettle tea.The person that does my acupuncture has a new way of doing things and uses one needle. In fact, the needle went into my wrist which is unexpected, but he's been incredible in the past in helping me.
I’m 2 years in. Very few have this just go by itself. It could be caused by sitting for long periods on hard surfaces. Mine was caused by cycling thousands of miles.
