Same goes for me!! The Pregabalin has been a God send for me! I rarely get the leg spasms and pelvic tension anymore! After years of being up all night from the pain, I'm finally able to sleep again most nights!
I had severe pudendal nerve entrapment. Lyrica did not help my severe neuralgia at all. It did however make me swell up and gain weight, and it made me feel way too dopey. I quit using it after two months. I use Amytriptyline now and it helps.
I have noticed many memory issues over the recent years, and it never occurred to me that it could be caused by the Lyrica/Pregabalin?! I also had a stroke about 25 years ago, so it could also be from that though.
Yes - it (Lyrica) does work - but I preferred Cymbalta (generic duloxetine)... It has the same black box warnings about depression so bad you can become suicidal, but it duloxetine did not do that to me... Cymbalta like Lyrica slows the transmission of the pain signal to the brain. That slowing of the signal also allows the signal to weaken so you perceive less pain.
I use it but so far it hasn't helped but I'm only at about 3 months. There are definitely side effects but if you can get through them they subsided a lot for me. Still get me a little drowsy at times but nothing a cup of coffee won't help with. I will continue with it for some months and then stop if it still has not helped. No depression or weight gain, just fogginess of the brain at times.
Hi. I take both Nortriptyline and Gabapentin, which is very similar to Lyrica and has the same horror stories. I have been taking it for more than a year and it works, although not 100%. From what I was told by my neurologist, if you keep it at a low dose and then gradually decrease as directed by your doctor, you won't experience the horrible withdrawal symptoms. I will start titration once I have my second nerve block, which unfortunately is in October 2025 due to the long NHS waiting list...
Thank you. I’m hoping 100 day a will help with the pain. I was an active person. Played a lot of sports and now I can’t even sit properly. There are days I get and start working out saying to myself that it will work and I will beat this but then I feel worse and go into panic mode, fear and anxiety mode . Hate this life sometimes. Sports was my passion….
I preferred Duloxetine(also called Cymbalta) for nerve (burning) pain. It has a similar action to Lyric - slowing the pain impluse to the brain so it can attenuate (weaken). It also has suicidal ideation warnings, but in most people it is an antidepressant. And many of us with chronic pain are depressed? A two for one med?
