Incontinence advice.

Hello Ladies. I wonder if anyone has any advice as to which incontinence product works best. I have a prolapse and wear Always towels which, up to now, have worked well. But now they are not sufficient for night time use. Is is so embarrassing wetting the bed and I'm worried about smelling. How can I go on holiday like this ? A major concern also. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a new product for example ?

Any advice gratefully received. Thank you

Hi Keys2theworld. Sorry to hear about your incontinence problem. Have you spoken to your gp or ever been referred to gynecologist to find out what the problem is? I am 73yrs I know my bladder has dropped but I don't have incontinence. I do hope you get your self sorted and get your confidence back. Regards to you x

It's the prolapse that is causing it unfortunately. But thank you for you're concern.

Suggest you contact your GP who can refer you to incontinence support NHS, where they can offer advice and support and a range of free products. I use ID light pads just the right thickness without being too bulky. I also use wet wipes to keep myself fresh.I use to worry about where toilet facilities were when I was out and about as I have a very leaky bladder. Using these pads changed my life as they are really absorbent and gives me confidence that I don't have any accidents.

Hope this info helps.

I have never seen hypopressives mentioned on any post here. They can help with incontinence and prolapse symptoms and other pelvic floor issues. Hope it’s ok to mention them here.

Hello there,I too have a slight bladder prolapse.I wear Tena pads and find them very good, you can get them in varying thicknesses according to your need.I have been referred to the hospital by my GP and a hysterectomy and bladder repair has been advised, all done internally. The waiting list is around a year. While I am waiting I have been prescribed fesoterodine fumarate tablets for an overactive bladder and these have improved my incontinence but not stopped it completely, so I continue to wear the Tena pads.Hope this helps,I am 59 by the way and can sympathise with the worry of odour. The tena are unperfumed I think,as I find scented pads irritate me.I have tried Always too but didn't get on with the scent.

please get yourself referred to a Urogynaecologist and consider surgery for your incontinence which is probably caused by a prolapse. There really should be no need for any woman to tolerate incontinence. You can also ask for a referral for pelvic floor physiotherapy which will teach you pelvic floor exercises to help with bladder control. I hope you can get some relief from what is a very common problem which is rarely spoken about.
