has anyone had sacral nerve stimulato... - Pelvic Pain Suppo...
has anyone had sacral nerve stimulator fitted?
I've had a pudendal nerve stimulator for pelvic pain. It worked great first year, then lost its ability to stop pain. I've tried many things over the last 12 years. I am now off of oxycodone and muscle relaxers (for 6 weeks - so no long term data yet) after getting pudendal nerve pulsed radiofrequency ablation. I was injured by transvaginal mesh in 2009. I started with radiofrequency ablation in the summer of 2023. Because I've been down for 12+ years, I have muscle atrophy. So I struggle some from trying to get exercise. I am walking 2 miles, but I have to be careful not to let muscles spasm. I have pudendal neuralgia, obturator neuralgia, piriformis disorder, and coccydynia. I've had PT's tell me I wouldn't recover from the atrophy. I am slowly getting better. I am also doing sola pelvic therapy. The combo is working great for me. I still have a long way to go, but my pain went from 6-10+ to 0-4 now.
In the pelvic floor all the nerves and muscles interact with each other and when one area is injured, the surrounding muscles and nerves pick up the load that the injured area carried. Over time it causes severe pain as they were not meant to carry that load for a long duration.
I wish you the best!
