Who and how to get a diagnosis

Hi!

So I'm currently endo diagnosed although not lap confirmed. However I've got a sneaky suspicion adeno could also be lingering.

As the wait times are ridiculous here and I keep getting rejected referrals or lost referrals I'm wondering how one goes about speaking to someone about adeno. Someone who actually understands the condition.

I'm based in the south west UK.

Would MRI pick anything up? I've had u/s & trans v and showed fluid & heterogenous myometrium which I believe is an indicator.

Thank you

Hi 👋I'm 10days post laparoscopy surgery that confirmed and removed extensive Endometriosis and fibroids. Having had ultrasound scans that were inconclusive of Endometriosis but showed fibroids its clear that not all patients show changes on scans/mri.

NHS sadly not a good experince for me as they didn't have the knowledge, experience, capacity and I ended up going private. A few years ago i decided to purchase health insurance. I've lived with various symptoms including chronic pain for years and diagnosed with multiple conditions. I just needed someone to listen and support me.

If you have option to go private even for the initial consultation with a specialist to guide your treatment plan I would recommend.

Regarding scan vs mri I was offered both but not much difference in accuracy. I went scan as was performed by my specialist and meant instant feedback even if only to support move to surgery.

This is a good place to start looking for a specialist I put in South West to get this list up: topdoctors.co.uk/doctor/end...

I attended this clinic (oxfordwomensclinic.co.uk/) as was on my insurance list. I can't recommend Mr Arambage enough from my first appointment he put me at ease and gave me information and options. He is very busy due to his excellent care but it was worth the wait to see him which was still quicker than the NHS for which I'm still waiting on a repeat scan as they couldn't find the previous one when I was called up a year after being referred to gynecology specialist to discuss scan and treatment of fibroids as I'd been dismissed about endo being possible!

It's been a lonely journey but I'm feeling much more optimistic about my future health and quality of life. If you want to talk more please do let me know.
