I suffer with quite extensive abdominal adhesions due to surgeries and possible endometriosis, I suffer pain & bloating daily as well as all the other symptoms that it brings with it. I went out last night (rare occurrence) and I had a few drinks also rare, I drank what I normally do which is larger & lime but towards the end of the night I had an horrendous pain in my mid lower abdomen like I was being ripped inside! Needless to say I had to leave and when I got home I sat on the loo to have a wee and the internal pressure was unbearable! it radiated from my pelvic area into my rectum and intensified if I tried to relax again like my insides were being torn. I have had a hysterectomy when I was 31 so I know my bowels have filled that space. The pain has continued throughout the night and reached an all time high early this morning I genuinely nearly phone got a paramedic although I didn’t. I had to try and open my bowels and only passed just a little but it hurt so much, has anyone else experienced this? I’m wondering if it were gas as even trying to pass that was horrendously painful or maybe I have a kink in my bowel or a partial blockage? It has eased throughout the day but when I sit down the pressure is still really bad. Sorry for the long post and detail x

hello Channy I am a newbie too I have adhesions and had hysterectomy so I know what that pain is like . I find that if I cut out solid food for a bit it can help with pain , rests the bowel and may relieve the pressure from the damned adhesions ! . I do have an ileostomy now so this advice may not help you . I do sympathise and hope you are feeling better today . Sorry I can’t suggest anything else and hope you are able to get some medical help if it gets any worse .

Hi Channy.Your abdominal pain is very familiar to me. Like you, I am loaded with painful abdominal adhesions. Six years ago, my entire colon was removed in emergency surgery due to c-diff. My surgeon said I was literally dying. Since then, I have constantly suffered with very painful adhesions. Every few months, I go to the hospital emergency department with a bowel obstruction. These usually result in a long hospital stay with an ng tube running through my nose and down into my stomach. Several times, the bowel rest didn't help, and I had to have open abdominal surgeries to clear the small intestine blockage. In total, I have had 22 major surgeries in six years, including 12 open abdominal and 10 laparoscopic. They tell me mine is a life long problem, and I have to live with it. Therefore, I am in permanent pain management with 40mg percocet daily, a fentanyl patch and medical marijuana.

Having no colon sucks. My stools are watery, and painful. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or drink. The pain is horrible 24/7 no matter what. I try to stay active with golf and bike riding, but too much physical activity causes more pain. I live in constant fear of needing to go to the hospital emergency department, because I hate those ng tubes. I keep a packed hospital bag in my car, just in case. I have visited the hospital ER 47 times in six years, and was admitted as inpatient 38 of those times. It's not a very good way to live.

I'm not sure what advise I can offer you. For me, it comes down to pain management, which means opioids. I hate those pills, but couldn't handle the pain without them. Sometimes, sharing about my pain helps me. That's why I joined this forum. Anytime you you wish to vent, I am all ears.

I am so sorry you have to live this way, my heart really goes out to you ♥️ you’d think that in this day of age they’d be so much more they could do. Thank you for your response and take care, also same goes to you as for venting… it does help to know your not alone x

so sorry to hear about your pain. I should think it was the lager and lime which caused the pain but it sounds as if you need another hysterectomy type repair. I should see your Doc as soon as possible so that she can check your internal organs.

I had my hysterectomy 18 months ago but still dread that everything will prolapse again!

Best of luck

Hi sorry to hear about your night out,I have found that drinking ales have been a better option for me as I was having the same issues with larger it is the bubbles in it that make everything expanded and then had that crushing feeling for about a week afterwards, try and stay away from anything fizzy I know it doesn't sound great but you will feel better for it x

I have the same issues due to having a pinched right pudendal nerve. Surgery to release the nerve from the ligaments and fascia it was stuck between was done years too late.

I’m not on any opioids and I don’t want to be. Amitriptyline helps me, I take it at bedtime.

I keep hydrated all day with cold tea made from Chamomile and peppermint. I eat apples, dates, cashews, potatoes skins, yam skins etc. ( food fibre ) and I can go.

Coffee and liquor are toxic to nerves so I don’t drink them anymore, My surgeon told me that bubbly drinks are terrible for the bladder. Do not drink sodas, colas, tonic water etc.

I hope the pain subsides.

Thank u so much for ur kind words x

I too have had this pain. It is horrendous. While foods can make it worse, I suspect it is an adhesion to the bowel being aggravated. As long as you can go and pass gas it isn't life threatening. It sure feels that way though. The last colonoscopy I had caused a tear in my intestinal track. But afterwards it was much better for going. The doctors had never seen anything like this before so couldn't diagnose. I have my own theory, an adhesion was pulled on when they inflated the intestine. Which caused a rip, but also broke the adhesion. Before this happened I was chronically constipated. So sorry for your suffering. I wish you the best!
