Has anyone here improved after PN release surgery?

I've dealt with this to the point of feeling like I'm going to lose my mind because it's so terrible to live with. I almost had PN release surgery but got really sick and had to cancel the surgery.

Now I'm back to planning it but I spoke with a woman who had it and got worse and now I'm afraid to get it.

Can anyone share if they had it and improved?

Hi. I had decompression surgery 3.5 years too late as my pudendal nerve has been pinched in three spots for too long.

I knew going in that there was only a 60% chance of success. I’m not 100% healed but right after transgluteal surgery the terrible burning pain in my rectum was gone.

It still acts up and I meditate to calm my nervous system plus I still require meds to sleep.

I have to pace myself, I can’t lift anything too heavy, I can walk farther but it’s taken years to get my strength back ( I was bedridden for years ). I’m 65 and I’ve suffered intractable pain for 14 years. It’s been torture but I’m finally seeing a little improvement.

In your case, how long have you been living with it? Which doctor is your surgeon?

which Dr.was your surgeon, I am Canadian and no Dr’s here even know what I am talking about, so if and when I go to ER screaming in pain, get no help, last time they sent for my husband to bring my pain meds to the ambulance bay, I was still strapped to a stretcher, laying in wet sheets and nightgown as it was raining that night with the ambulance doors, ambulance bay doors open, in November with rain storm, I was freezing. I was still there at 2am,arriving at 2:30 pm, never seeing a nurse or Dr.had been there 12hrs with nothing, finally signed out. Also has caused cystocele rectocele, from it that no Dr. will not repair because of PNE. I have it bilaterally. I did get relief from decompression surgery in AZ, Dr Hibner, but long recovery 18-24 months, it took me 26 months but have other side to do

Have you not shown your GP Dr. Hibner’s operative report? It’s a legal document that proves you had the nerve compressed on one side. How could any Canadian doctor deny you nerve pain meds?

What meds are you taking? You need Amytriptyline. Can you sleep? You likely need a sleeping pill if you can’t sleep.

My surgeon was Dr. S. Antolak. It was done four years too late in 2011 in St. Paul,Minnesota . I’m doing much better.

Are you afraid to have the other side operated on?
