i went for my pre op yesterday and i asked alot of qestions they said that my utrus would be removed and a interior bladder prolapsse done they said you wont have any scares as they are doing it through the virgina .i said well can you put down i do not want any mess what so ever . in my body. the nurse was very helpfull but she did say she ws new on the pre op department and to ask my gyno any other qestions and conerns tomorrow morning . im 62yrs. im not looking forward to this . as anyone had this op done and how long was the op andhow did you feel after you came up .no matter how gorey the details are i d sooner know i cope better that way . dont like beening blind folded so to speack . but i know the hospital is fairly good were im going it nhss .but its not abad hospital can anyone let me know before tomorrow . as it will help to put my mind at rest .many thanys to you all x

I have had many vaginal surgeries. They are simple and you recover pretty quickly. Did they say what material they're using?

no when i asked they said talk to your gyno tomorrow but i will not have mess or tvt tape as iv been told its some form of mesh .ill make it clear i do not want any form of mesh what so ever . so im stress as i dont know as yet what they are useing . but ill want to know befor i go down and if theres any risks involued long term and what its made off . thankyou for replying to me i dont know how long ill be in but im hoping no more than 2 days

It is an outpatient procedure in the US. They should have informed you of this already. Occasionally they keep you overnight. And sometimes you stay longer if they can't get pain under control. But that is for a small minority. It isn't usually a very painful procedure. They advertised it here as "have this on Friday and be back to work on Monday." That is a generalized statement. And the fine print says all that can go wrong. Since you are having a prolapse repair and not for stress urinary incontinence, it is a little more complicated. Make sure they don’t push you through and answer every question to your satisfaction. It shouldn't be mesh, in the US they have stopped mesh being used for POP (pelvic organ prolapse) unless a severe case. I believe it is the same in Europe. They still use it for stress urinary incontinence, which severely injured me and many women I know personally. I will say a prayer for you and sincerely hope this puts you back into recovery and a full life.

mesh us not used in the uk either si dont worry. I had same op and was fine, just been seen again by consultant 5 months on and she examined me and said everything perfect. My bladder is great now, so pleased i had it done. They sent uterus off for examination and no cancer detected, just full of fibroids. I stayed in for 2 nights as got loads of other health issues. Good luck

I believe they did the same as the US, outlawed it for pelvic organ prolapse (unless very difficult case) and allow it for stress urinary incontinence. I know several women injured by it for stress urinary incontinence, including me. A big issue is once implanted it's permanent. It wasn't meant to be removed and is very difficult to get out. I am in a group of women and we have all had at least 20 surgeries to get it out and to repair issues caused by the mesh.

As much as possible. It robbed me of my sex life at 49. I am on prescription pain meds (probably for the rest of my life, but you never know, there is always hope) and am limited from what I used to be able to do. I lost 10 years of exercise, etc. So would have been in better shape. Overall, I am still blessed. I have 5 grand children who cheer me up immensely. I have friends and family. So I can't really complain. I married a great man who stood by me (married for 41 years) most don't- sad. Too many women we've met have said to him that he's a hero for staying by me. Such a sad state of affairs-- No more for better or worse. I have a group of friends who were similarly injured, it is a great support group. I recommend to everyone going through health issues to find friends they can relate to. It makes life easier to manage. I just wanted to reply, thanjs for the x, so other women know what they are potentially getting into.

Make sure no mesh is used. Get it in writing. Doctors misrepresent the truth on a regular basis.

I had bladder repair NoMesh ..I did have 2 stitches come through the vaginal wall and had them removed…the surgery was a success I no longer feel that my insides would fall out with every step so yes I am glad I had it done…it did leave me with nerve damage and I was mis diagnosed from the specialist that did the surgery…just make sure your dr. Is educated on the possiable pundel nerve damage they say it is rare here in the states I have talked with women in the UK that were diagnosed a lot sooner it seems to be recognized in Europe…with that being said I had previous pelvic surgeries when I was much younger for cyst on my ovaries…they say the more surgeries you have the more likely to have this problem…I will be praying 🙏 for you the recovery was not bad just rest

I had this but paid private at spire ..to be very honest it was a straight forward operation but be patient with recovery i expected to sail through it as im fit no previous op dont smoke not overweight etc but it took a good 3 months i did wonder at some point if he had made a mistske as i felt i should hsve recoverd quicker but it judt took time he didnt use any mesh just did a repair back and front so i had lots of stiches ...this was back in feb but im back to normal now so after efffectz ..everything is working as it should so do not worry you will be out and next time your back in your room..be patient recovery is slow....good luck xx

moring i had my op on the 8.9 22. i was told i had to have a interior bladder repair and a hyrstrectomy . but i came out of recovery room and was told i dident need a hystrectomy. so i ended up having a interior bladder repair . it was on nhs that did it but . ibet its expecive if you went privet . you could always inquire . i had 2 part ct scan on me at the spire privet hopital in early 2021 that ccost me 1,375 . not cheap but my doctor wouldent referr me for one so i went spire for one . i feel ok im at home recoving for 6 weeks but im getting beter each day . how long have youbeen waiting and what have you got to have done if you don t mind me asking?

morning i had my op on nhs as there no way i could aford the privet route. i have no idea how much it would cost but if a 2 part ct scan cost 1,3.75 .a op would be alot more . but it depends on what it is your going in for. but i was suffering from uti infections bowels played up pressery ring kept slipping out of place ..iv had low vit d in 209 hiatus hernia in 2011 then breast cancer in 2014 and mercetomy on the right then prolase bladder in jan 2020. it was a struggle as it was the covid period and to get the ring look at if it slipped was like begging doctors said they dident have anythine to do with them . i had a part bocked bowel too at one stage but ops been done on nhss . and everything is going ok . just need to get off the omeprazole for reflux not aggod table . as i have ahiatus hernia for uti i take pearl barley 1 table spoon to one litter of water . with orange juice from a orange to help the taste but it works and it natral which is best the natral route. im thinking of buying slippery elm to take for reflux and come off the omeprazole as their not agood tablet long term . i hope wish you all the best with your op in september 2023 . let me know how you go on .
