Severe constant pelvic pain

I’m in so much pain and the doctors can’t seem to diagnose it. 5 weeks ago I had painful urination and I was given antibiotics. But a couple of weeks later it progressed to severe pelvic pain, I have lower abdominal aches, dark cloudy urine that smells strong. For the past 2 days I’ve been getting chills in my body and lower back pain. I feel weak and tired and I have no appetite.

I have no previous medical conditions, no STIs. I’ve tried strong antibiotics doxycycline, metronidazole and 1 injection shot. My urine sample yesterday showed some leukocytes which means UTI but I’ve tried both nitrofurantoin and now trimethoprim and I’m still in agony. Is this chronic pelvic pain that I have to live with forever? I’m taking naproxen painkillers but still suffering.

Has a sample been tested in the lab for specific bacteria, then they can prescribe the correct antibiotic. Dip stick tests done at GP surgery are pretty useless. If you now have chills you could have a kidney infection which will need quick treatment, suggest you head to A&E or local Minor Injuries Unit for assessment.

My GP sent my urine to the lab a week ago and everything came back fine except there was blood but I was on my period at the time. However the dip stick test yesterday at A&E showed some leukocytes. The doctors are making me feel like there’s no more possible medications they can give me

Another sample needs to be sent to the lab as they have to identify the bacteria. There are other antibiotics to try but better to know what needs targeting. You may also need a longer term antibiotic, the current trend for only giving for 3 days frequently doesn’t work, whenever I have had a uti I’ve needed at least 7 days and in the end I went on low dose Trimethoprim for over 2 years which did the trick.

It could be e coli...I had a really bad time like you are describing shivers feels like your dying had to go to the gp care at hospital gave me antibiotics said yes urine infection I started to feel better in a day then my gp phoned me 3 days later asked how I was I said fine now he said are u sure as u had a really bad e.coli infection so u need to go to the hospital to get assessed we have something called primary care next to a&e....that's my advise as u don't want a kidney infection ...jx

Need to go back let them know not getting better and chills take your temperature as well. You are symptomatic of UTI but could need admission for antibiotic IV drip to knock off the infection. I personally think your urine needs to be retested to ensure it is no infection if it isn't infected then you need to not have any more antibiotics and get doctors to to inform what could be giving you the sensation of one, also there is a condition called intestinal cyclitis gives irritable symptoms same as UTI it is slow to heal as bladder has had irritation from previous infection so you need to drink a lot of water to flush the bladder and keep bladder clear of irritating fluids such as coffee and acidic foods also for calming irritable symptoms take Ural you can get it from the chemist, it helps settle irritable symptoms of feeling of UTI. This is a horrible feeling and I completely know how you feel but your care for this is not being met you do need to go back and let the Doctors know this feeling has not settled and that you are have chills and really not feeling good .They will retest your urine and send to lab to find out what infection you may have please don't suffer the Doctors will take notice when you inform them of same, also after pathology tests of urine they will act on problem if infection otherwise if sensation continues ask them what they think it is as they will investigate further for other reason for your discomfort and pain . Truly hope this will heal soon for you. Also this is only my advice your Doctors are the ones who should help but you have to advocate for yourself if your symptoms keep up.

As the above post mentioned, you may have Interstitial cystitis. It's a chronic condition causing bladder pressure, bladder pain and sometimes pelvic pain. The pain ranges from mild discomfort to severe pain. The condition is a part of a spectrum of diseases known as painful bladder syndrome. Look it up and do a little research. I was originally diagnosed with this, but later, I went to see a specialist), and she determined I did not have I.C.

It moments like this, I take doxycyline and nitrofuritan simultaneously. Good luck. You may also have yeast

how are you feeling now? I have had a lot of success with D-Mannose taken for bacteria in the bladder. It lathes onto the bacteria and flushes it away when you pee. I haven't needed to take antibiotics for UTI in about 8 years. I've also had issues where I thought it was UTI but it was actually pelvic floor muscle spasm, and for that I use TheraWand to manually break up the muscle knots.

If you continue to have problems, perhaps seeing a Urolgist would be a good idea. Hope you feel better soon.
