Hi ladies, I'm 30 years old and was diagnosed with multiple fibriods last month, ive been in constant pain where i cant actually function as i used to, bloated to a point where a lady thought i was pregnant. I want to get a hystorectomy as i have 2 kids and honestly dont want more, could i request one instead of just getting the fibriods removed?

Hi there, I don’t know what the position is in South Africa, but in the U.K. you can get a hysterectomy if you have fibroids. I know I was an extreme case when I had my hysterectomy, and I personally had no choice. However, at the time, I seem to remember them preferring this method, because fibroids can grow back with other methods. At 30 it is quite young for a hysterectomy, and you’d have to be totally sure that there would be no circumstances where you might regret making a decision to have a hysterectomy. It’s definitely worth discussing with your doctor.
