I had rectocele prolapse after a difficult child birth and had to have it surgically repaired 6 months later. That was 6 years ago. I’m thinking about having another child and am happy to have C section this time so not to undo the work of the surgery. Is it possible to have a baby again? Will I have prolapse again even with C section? I have tried to find out more information online but couldn’t so far. Has anyone experienced this or can give me some advice? Thank you!

Is it possible to have baby after rectocele repair surgery?
Hi Keepsmiling,
This is definitely one for the surgeon who carried out your repair as each person will be different or an obstetrician. I don’t know who carried out your repair but it should be possible for your GP to write to your surgeon or previous obstetrician/obstetrician where you had your previous baby so they can look at your medical notes.
It maybe possible but you may need closer observation during you pregnancy as it might make it a more high risk pregnancy. But I think they would be really pleased that you will have asked before you have become pregnant rather than rushing in blind.
It sounds as though you had a tough time previously and I hope that should you be able to have another pregnancy even with a C section you have a more positive experience. Best of luck and if you find an answer would you post it on here as I’m now keen to know the answer myself!
